7 reasons why making health top priority helps us succeed.

Since I was fifteen, I decided to make health my top priority.

When I started my business at age 21, I would never sacrifice a workout, which sometimes entailed running at 2am with wind chills in the minus 50s.

I was a fitness fanatic before social media offered every health enthusiast an opportunity to profile their daily accomplishments. I prefer to keep my workout routines, daily health practices and fanatical workouts confidential. At Anatomy of Success we encourage people to do what works for them, not duplicate others.

I would often sacrifice sleep, which is not recommended, as I built my business.? Eating well and working out were nonnegotiable, and the energy, confidence, stamina and mental toughness I developed compensated for any deficiencies.

Building a successful company while staying incredibly fit demands supreme discipline and commitment.

Training myself to be mentally and physically strong served me well and the fortitude I developed gave me the tenacity to endure the dedication most people would prefer to avoid.

We can debate the vicissitudes of supreme discipline, but being in the top 1% financially and physically for over four decades is irrefutable evidence that's difficult to argue with.

People just don't like the sound of supreme sacrifice and following some advice results in lacking the time to manifest massive dreams.

There are only so many hours in a day to build a business, make time for our family and exercise our mind and body.

I am not advocating people abandon great sleeping habits, and the research on sleep is overwhelming.?

Having it all takes time and coordinating a schedule that offers sufficient sleep, intense daily exercise, constant learning, wellness, meditation, cold plunging, saunas, and lucrative businesses will require extraordinary discipline.

For me, the foundation of my personal and professional success began with intense workouts.? The mental stamina and focus I developed served as the substratum for my methodical ascendancy.

“To keep the body in good health is a duty…otherwise we shall not be able to keep the mind strong and clear.” –?Buddha

Here are 7 reasons why being healthy pays big dividends for business:

Energy

Intense physical training has provided me with energy that was unsurpassed at every stage of my journey.? People my age wish they had my energy. It’s been the product of mental and physical conditioning for over 4 decades.? It takes incredibly energy, drive, and determination to run a successful company.? Better health can help!

Stamina

Many people seek outside funding and aspire to “scale” their business quickly. I prefer building a legacy that becomes the cornerstone of your investment portfolio.? To build a strong business that endures the test of time, we need stamina. There is no better way to build stamina than to make healthy priority number one.

Example

Great leaders offer an example worth emulating. Defining lofty standards for better health inspires your teams and encourages a healthy lifestyle. Young impressionable team members are especially prone to follow our example.? Create a healthy work environment and corporate culture that values better health, and your organization will flourish.?

Stronger teams

Encouraging team members to value better health and making sure they have the time to focus on mental and physical wellbeing is imperative.? If we drive our people into the ground demanding long hours and unreasonable accessibility, we establish expectations that are inconsistent with better health.? Coach and mentor, your teams about the benefits of better health.

Work ethic

There is a strong correlation between better health and magnificent work ethic. People that are fit have the mental and physical fortitude to contribute in a powerful way. They do not whine or complain, and they understand the value of “hard work”.? People that make health top priority make talented team members, because they understand personal responsibility and often have great leadership skills.

Creativity

Being physically active stimulates creativity.? Productivity, innovation, and agility are critical in today’s rapidly moving business environments.? People that are self-motivated and strong make remarkable team members and offer creative energy.? Encourage better health and notice the difference in creative contributions. ??

Competitive advantage

People ask me all the time; how did you build the most successful company of its kind in the world? It’s not easy being the best at anything.? It takes hard work, drive, determination, and focus, and it requires remarkable people.? It also requires a leader that never quits and outworks the competition.?? Better health is the gateway to gaining the edge on the competition.???

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will instruct his patients in care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.” –?Thomas Edison ?

Thank you for sharing this insightful article, Steve Wohlenhaus! Y The seven reasons you've outlined resonate strongly.

With mental health, trying to stay happy I can come up with some designs which might be significant in business, but don't think happiness is always about money because Bhutan sets a good example of increasing citizen's happiness prioritised over increasing GDP. More governments need to have this conversation and try to emulate them if only by putting in a minimum basic income for food or educate children to garden and have free allotments. Life is complicated at its best. Also need to think how to keep an eye out for beneficial growth. In America everyone can survive from sweet chestnuts there are so many wild trees. My latest business idea is rooftop gardens but the entire roof has to be built to new measures I have not tested to be robust because skirting boards are flimsy and the earth in the air is a heavy weight when wet.
