A few months ago, LinkedIn announced they had reach a new milestone in their growth, 500 million members, up from 467 million in October 2016. And while these are not all active users, it is a huge number of potential clients.
Even if we break that down to 'active users', data seems to indicate there are around 25% or 125 million people who are actively involved in contributing to LinkedIn on a regular basis. That is still huge potential to influence. But may be we should break it down further and say only 0.5% of those are in your market. That would still be 625000 potential clients.
However, we could play with numbers, percentage and data all day and someone will still argue that there are no opportunities for them on LinkedIn, so for those of you who are can see the opportunities and have the determination to move through all the negative clutter, here are 5 quick tips on utilising LinkedIn to maximise your business opportunities.
Whether you a lawyer, solicitor, accountant, architect, sales professional, IT consultant, dog groomer, are in B2B or B2C, LinkedIn is right now, today being used by your colleagues and competitors to grow their businesses and networks. The question is are you?
To help, here are 7 Quick Tips on Utilising LinkedIn to Maximise Your Business Opportunities.
- Make sure all of your information is up-to-date and correct. There is nothing more frustrating than contact information is old or incorrect. If you want to use LinkedIn for business growth, keep it up-to-date. Your business is on show.
- Use high quality pictures, particularly in your profile. So many people have said it before and so many will continue to say it. LinkedIn is not Facebook, where your holiday snaps or night out 'selfies' work. Again, you and your business are on show.
- Engage in conversations with your connection. People want to get to know you and you should want to get to know them. That happens through conversation. Spend some time commenting on posts and articles which are relevant to you and your business.
- Post quality, engaging and valuable content. If you want to get the full benefit from LinkedIn publish your own posts and articles of original, high quality engaging content. If you don't write well, there a myriad of copy writers who can do a great job for you.
- Ask questions that get people talking. If you are asking good questions, people will answer and give you their opinion. It is all valuable and could help some solve a business challenge they may be dealing with.
- Sync your calendar. LinkedIn allows you to sync you calendar allowing you to connect with those people you have meeting with but are not connected to.
- Use the new video function. You can either record a video directly into the app or upload a video you recorded previously. This could be a game changer for LinkedIn and your business.
LinkedIn is a platform like an other. It has it strengths and it weaknesses, but it will only work for those people who use it as it is designed to be used.
