The 7 question Data Culture Hack
People always ask me what is the fastest way to improving performance with data? My answer is always the same - through your people.
The good news is that you don't need to send leaders to a Business School for 3 days, that in my experience is too slow and expensive for the results we crave.
Instead, teams need to use Data Culture Hacks that can help them find FAST and EFFECTIVE ways to make a difference. Here is an example of one that you can use:
All leaders inside your organisation set a calendar invite for 9:42am every Friday morning.
Within the meeting invite insert the following questions:
- What are the key bits of information that my team need to know in order to understand our key business value drivers?
- Who on my team has challenged my / our thinking in a constructive way this week?
- Are my team just agreeing with me? Have I been a HiPPO this week?
- What have we done well this week and how can we share best practice across other business teams and the analytics community?
- Have my team this week considered the perspectives of others in our organisation?
- Have my team this week and the data capability that we have available to us, aligned to what’s important right now?
- What message can I send to my team to make their weekend better?
I promise you, that by 11am that morning, you will have moved the dial in the right direction.
Now, imagine if 1000+ leaders across your organisation did this every Friday?
Pretty cool way to end the week right?
