7 Mistakes That Are Killing Your Social Media Interaction.
Robert C. Stern
As The King of Social Media, I help my clients, individuals and small businesses, create an army of raving fans on their social media platforms which catapults their business.
Look, regardless of how many followers you have, if you can't keep them interested and amused over time, the damage will be exponential. It'll be tough to get back from there. One of the most important aspects that almost all social media platforms consider when deciding whether or not to distribute your material to your fans is engagement. That's right. You may produce content, but it does not guarantee that they will offer it to your followers. They make a decision based on your level of engagement.
It's one of those things that you should pay close attention to and it should be at the top of your priorities list.
The First Mistake
Customers are disappointed if you don't respond to them right away. According to a poll on Twitter and Facebook, about 75% of users want a reply to a private message. While 68 percent expect a response to a public post or comment on Instagram, 73 percent of customers want an organization to respond whether they contact the brand privately or publicly. If you don't live up to your standards, you'll be forced to interact with them. Over time, your involvement will decrease.
Mistake Number Two
Your audience is there for a reason; they're interested in your product and/or service and will appreciate it more if they feel a strong connection with you. If you don't respond to people, you should start doing so immediately. Another reason for your engagement rate to drop is if you don't reply quickly enough to your audience. So, when people send you negative comments, respond as quickly as feasible. It doesn't have to be right away. But waiting a period of 60 minutes or less is preferable. Replying to comments within an hour rather than ignoring them might give customers the feeling that your business isn't interested in them.
Mistake Number Three
Not taking advantage of your prior successes and failures! If you're providing the material that no one wants to read, don't do it. You're making a mistake if you stop producing content they like. Take notes on the progress and accomplishments. Do more of what you've been doing. Keep an eye on your social media analytics to see what resonates with your followers and do more of it, as well as what doesn't resonate with people and do less of it.

Mistake Number Four.
Self-serving material. Make it about your audience, not about your company's product or service. Sure thing. Eventually, you'll have to advertise your goods or services, but that should only happen once in a while. I do it all the time. Maybe a few percentages of the time, sure. At the end of the video or post, I may or may not suggest that you go to, my social media agency, The Social Leader, where we aid customers to increase their traffic. That's not the bulk of the material, though.
Mistake Number Five
There are a lot of people who do not go on social media because they want to buy things. Yes, they do buy, but it's when they're passionate about something and more significantly, learn and connect with your content. There are too many people out there that just try to sell items first and then engage.
Mistake Number Six
The aim is to reciprocate story mentions. When people publish a tale and see that the brand they support re-posts it, they like getting a shout-out.
Mistake Number Seven
Not sharing enough or too much. Consider how many times you've posted on Facebook in the last two weeks, and then suddenly three times a day becomes twice as difficult because people are simply exhausted and aren't paying attention to the material since it isn't exciting enough. People may overlook your brand's trust rating if you don't publish too frequently. People might become overwhelmed when you post too often. People may not be familiar with your brand if you don't publish enough. So, as individuals in the audience, we have to build that connection. And you'll find out if you're posting too much and your engagement begins to tail off and start posting a little less; and if you're uploading at a high rate when you're in danger of going down the drain, it means you aren't putting out enough content. You'll get the hang of it after a while. The first step is to set the proper balance and, typically, once every other day is sufficient, but I recommend that you attempt to post at least once a day.
