7 mental makeups of Business & Board Leaders - inspired by an Eagle

The eagle is a very interesting bird in itself. Eagles soar silently and has the willpower to touch the sky. The Qualities of Eagle are so resonating with the Successful Board and Business Leaders.

Don’t be a parrot in life; a parrot talks way too much but can't fly high. Eagles soar silently and has the willpower to touch the sky.

                Learning- results speak for themselves!!

Here's an attempt to bring some Board Lessons for the Board Leaders and Aspiring Directors to ponder upon.

1. Eagles fly alone at high altitude which cannot be reached by lesser birds-sparrows, ravens and other small birds. Eagles fly with Eagles.

Learning- Stay away from narrow minded people and those who bring you down. Be in circle of High Performing Directors, Business Leaders and Positive community of Entrepreneurs. There is a saying that goes like this- people you hang around will eventually determine the person you become. Keep good company of like-minded Directors. Old idioms - birds of a feather flock together!

2. Eagles have a piercing vision:

They have the ability to focus on something as far as 5 km away. No matter what the obstacles, the eagle will not move his focus from the prey until he grabs it.

Learning: Create your vision and remain focused in your life no matter what the obstacles and challenges you may face, don’t give up. And you will succeed.

3. Eagles are fearless:

An eagle will never surrender despite the bigger size and strength of its prey ; it will fight to win its prey or regain its territory !.......

Learning: No matter what the size or complexity of a problem, don’t give up, instead face it. Successful people are fearless and they face problems head on.

4. Eagles are tenacious:

Eagles love storms. When clouds gather, eagles get excited. The eagles use the storm wind to lift themselves higher, once it finds the wind of the storm, the eagles soar above the clouds using the rising storm winds to rise above the clouds and touch the sky! It seizes every opportunity to glide and rest its wing using the gusty stormy winds where all other birds cower and hide the branches and leaves of trees.

Learning: Achievers are not afraid of challenges rather they relish in them and transform this into an advantage!

5. Eagles never eat dead things

Eagles never eat dead meat. In other words, an eagle doesn’t scavenge, it only eats the meat from the prey it kills itself.

Learning: Don’t rely on the past success, keep looking for new frontiers to concur, opportunities to explore. Leave your past where it belongs, in the past. Julius Caesar famously said - never rest on your laurels!

6. Eagle prepare for success by training and grooming !!

Parent birds remove the feathers on soft grass in the nests, so that the young ones get uncomfortable and get trained in preparation for flying and eventually they fly when it becomes too unbearable to stay in the nest.

Learning: Keep your company always out of comfort zone. There is no growth there. As Board Leaders, its your role as parents to keep your Employees, your vendors, your Business Associates exploring new opportunities, face new challenges and remain uncomfortable. Also if you have reached a stage in your career, where you feel, you are in comfort zone, come out and handhold startup companies, businesses who need your expertise in their challenging business journey.

Last but not the least -

7. Eagles possess vitality. Eagle prepare for success by reinventing themselves into superlative versions of the earlier bird!

When an eagle grows old, feather becomes weak and can not take him as fast and as high as it should, which makes him weak and can quicken his . So he retires to a place far away in the mountains and while there, he plucks out the weak feathers in his body and breaks his beak and his claws, against the rocks until he is completely bare. A very bloody and painful process he goes through.

Then he stays in his hiding place until he has grown new feathers , new beak and claws and then comes out flying higher then ever before.

Learning: We occasionally need to shed off old habits no matter how difficult. Things that burden us or add no value to our lives, businesses should be let go off. Also when you feel, you have achieved a lot, its time to sit back and look for new areas to work upon. It can be mentoring and handholding to others who are in their journey to boardrooms.

So If you feel, you have accumulated huge experience as Directors on the Boards of various companies, its time that You Nominate yourself to Mentor and Handhold Young Aspiring Directors and MentorMyBoard offers that platform to you.
