7 Lessons to Teach Your Kids in 2019

Being a businessman, a husband, and a father are all key roles in my life. 

From the moment my first daughter was born I wanted to be a “10X” dad.

To all the 10X dads and moms out there reading this, I salute you for making the time, setting your priorities and creating the example of success for those around you.

Below are 7 principles I try and teach my girls—and you should be teaching your kids these things too:  

Principle #1: YOU CAN DO ANYTHING

Teach your kids that they can do anything—it's one of the most important things you can ever do as a parent. Remember, all accomplishments start with the BELIEF that they can be done.

Principle #2: NEVER QUIT ON YOUR DREAMS

The worst thing a kid—or an adult—can do is to give up on their dreams. Trust me on this, if you'll give up on your dreams, you'll give up on ANYTHING.

Principle #3: YOU ARE A BUSINESS

Too many of us think we just start a business or we are part of a business. NO—you ARE a business. Everybody has a brand and whatever company you work for, you have a unique ability to bring value and revenue in.

Principle #4: NO EXCUSES

I don't know if I can think of a WORSE habit any kid can have than to make excuses. And believe me, this bad habit will only get worse in adulthood. The bottom line is you can either go through life making excuses or creating success.

Principle #5: I NEVER BLAME OTHERS

Very closely related to excuses, blaming others deflects responsibility from yourself and gives you an excuse for why a situation occurred that you could have controlled but didn't. I teach my daughters to take responsibility.

Principle #6: SUCCESS IS MY DUTY

Nobody will come to your house and make your dreams come true. If you don't make success your duty, you will let failure become a reality.

Principle #7: NO NEGATIVITY

Perhaps most important of all, I want to teach my kids to go through life without negativity. How much brighter would your day be if you only just stay positive?
