7 Lessons That Will Change Your Game

STORY BEGINS:
I had never done L&D ever. And yet Dr. Vivek Bindra (VBS) entrusted me with the responsibility to design learning and hence earning for 13.5K IBCs. (This number will soon be 100K).
This is a timeline of 4 months with 7 massive lessons.
IBCs are independent business consultants. They are our mini franchises. Solopreneurs, students and entrepreneurs spread across Bharat.
- Dec 31 2020: I took the responsibility of a team of 11. Talented trainers but disoriented. Each with their own challenges.
- Jan 15 2021: A new way of training was launched.
- Jan 31 2021: A new MEG (most essential goal) was instituted such that everyone goes after 1 goal. An RBG tracker was introduced.
- Feb 1 2021: The MEG was updated with clear KPIs set for each trainer along with a RBG tracker.
- Mar 31 2021: We had trained 50,000 participants in our trainings online and offline (pre-pandemic).
- Apr 31 2021: I was not happy. Because my IBC was not making more money.
- May 3 2021: VBS gave me another challenge in our Mancom. This was a tough meeting for me. I did not sleep for 3 nights post the meeting. I went back to my IBCs to deeply hear 'what do they need'? 'What is the data saying?'
- May 7 2021: We launched a new way of training "1 ????? Leads ????, 3 ????? Sales ?????"
- May 12 - May 16 2021: 1 ????? Leads ???? trainings happened.
- 14,041 IBCs attended the trainings.
- Out of them 921 IBCs attended all 5 days without fail.
- 10 hours of lead generation training straight.
- May 17 2021: The 921 IBCs that had X leads in our system on 11th May, they had 2.2X leads in our system on 17th May.

- May 17 - May 31 2021: 3 ????? Sales ????? trainings are on. So from Leads to Sales! Its an end to end closure. And then
LEARNINGS
#1: FEEDBACK is the breakfast for champions
VBS’s feedback did not let me sleep.
#2: DOG WILL DECIDE THE DOG FOOD. CUSTOMER IS RIGHT. NOT YOU
I went back to my IBCs. They clearly gave me their need.
#3: LISTEN
Listen with a clear blank mind. Do not put your judgements in what your customer days
#4: DATA
I heard the IBCs and then I heard DATA. And finally I made a decision.
#5: INDECISION KILLS COMPANIES. MAKE QUICK DECISIONS.
3rd May was the tough meeting for me. 7th May I announced new training workway. 12th May - we launched the first LIVE training.
#6: NO GAS. TRACK RESULTS.
All training results were mapped to “how many new leads have the IBCs generated - that attended our training?”
#7: GIVE SPECIAL ATTENTION TO CUSTOMERS THAT INVEST IN THEIR GROWTH
The 921 IBCs that attended all 5 trainings will now get special attention from our regional training heads and myself. This will change their game.
L&D is not just about learning. It is about driving business results.
It is not just about no. of hours. It is not just about running presentations. I have never been an L&D professional. But I know - customer + feedback + listening + data + empathy + decision making + feedback (again) + quick iterations = success!
