7 Keys to Maximise Your Productivity

7 Keys to Maximise Your Productivity

Most of us are masters of distraction but if we could change that and rather become masters of focus, we will be able? to get more done with every action that we take. That means we will get closer and closer to the life that we want a lot quicker.

Stay away from your phone as much as you can.

By not looking at your phone for at least 45 minutes when you wake up, you will start your day proactively instead of reactively.

If you need to be focused on something, put your phone in another room, on silent.

Prepare your brain

Your brain does not like switching tasks and will naturally have some resistance to doing this. Buffer your brain with some type of breathing to help ease the transition. Just 60 really quick breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth will do it. Then dip your toes into the next task instead of diving straight in because your brain will resist for four to six minutes. If you have to write a document just start by typing anything about you the weather or whatever.

Eliminate as many distractions as you can.

Turn off all your notifications, put your phone away, put headphones on, close your door, tell people not to disturb you. Distractions just get in the way of your focus, which means getting in the way of getting stuff done.

Stop multitasking

When you multitask, you lose efficiency and accuracy. Just work on one thing only and that will help you be more productive.

Have a notepad next to you the entire day

When something pops into your head, jot it down. This gets it out of your head and flowing through your brain taking up energy that should be used for focusing on the task at hand. It stops you worrying that you will forget about it.

Put on headphones

This is not only to block out distractions but also to use them to play music that has no words, that you can listen to over and over again. Train your brain that when you hear that song, it is work time and focus time.

The Pomodoro Technique

Work for twenty-five minutes on one thing and then take a five minute break.

Try and untrain yourself by using these 7 techniques to become more and more focused every day. Just doing it for a few days will give you the intense pleasure of seeing yourself slowly becoming a master of focus and saying goodbye to the master of distraction.

Thank you for sharing these hacks. I’m actually a huge fan of Pomodoro technique and it has changed the way I work. I don’t usually count my hours of work as output, but majorly as what was the outcome of the time. 25 min focussed work and 5 min relaxation is the way to go.
