Feeling desperate about the results of your blog post?
Having no clicks, no shares and no engagement on your blog post makes you feel hopeless.
Spending your precious time on something and still getting no results frustrates you, and you start deciding to give up.
But Hold on!
I was facing the same situation when I started my freelance writing career.
Let me share with you my experience and 7 important lessons I’ve learned while writing blog posts. As you are on the same page, give a try to apply these lessons
(If haven’t yet) and examine the results.
But before that, remember one thing, it’s rare when you get success on the first attempt, but consistency is the key.
Here are 7 lessons I learned while writing a blog post.
1. Know your audience.
Knowing your audience is one of the most prevailing writing lessons. When you enter your writing career, this is the first thing that you learn.
Unfortunately, I never focused on this point that's the reason why my blog posts didn't get many views, shares, and all kinds of results I desired to get.
Remember, the first thing that comes to achieve your desired blog posts writing results is knowing your audience. Understand it with an example:
Imagine you are scrolling down to your linked in feed or any other social media platform, what makes you stop?
Your interest, isn’t it?
The same situation goes for it. The one who is going to click on your blog post and share it with the other relevant one is your audience.
In my modern copywriting course, while learning about social media copywriting, I learned that people often share the post without reading it.
Do you know why?
Actually, they are the right audience. Even though they haven’t time to read your post they share it with the other relevant audience. This is how it works.
2. Find YOUR Voice.
Reading other writers’ blog posts and try to copy their successful writing style may help you learn the basics that HOW TO WRITE.
I was doing the same thing and learned a lot as many writers have different writing styles, but that was not something that satisfied me I wanted my own writing style that dominates me and proves my writing practices.
And after writing about 25+ posts I finally got my writing style. I was able to recognize my tone…my own voice.
Finding my tone and voice reflected on my results.
3. Choose a clear title first.
I bother a lot due to this because in the starting, before making my title clear I was used to writing the entire context and stop with nothing because my title was not clear. I wasn't able to write clearly.
And in writing or any type of communication, clarity must be your priority, or else it brings undesired results.
So choose a clear title first then proceed further. I know it’s understood, but it was the mistake I was doing (I won’t lie).
4. Make your blog post intro punchy.
I always find it the trickiest part of writing a blog post. Your introduction is your Hook. Always make it punchy and captivating. There are a lot of ways to write a great catchy introduction such as telling a story and anecdote.
But I want to discuss with you what worked for me. Try to apply these and analyze the results.
1. Create a scene:
While reading a post of a blog: The Write Life, I learned painting a picture in the intro that leads straight towards your main idea.
This picture will help you to engage your readers because your picture will leave a question in your reader's mind and to get an answer he would follow you.
Use words such as Imagine and remember. It will help you in creating scenes or painting a picture.
2. Start with a quote.
This is again a worth applying tip because it creates curiosity.
In my view, quotes define the whole hiding phenomenon in one line.
And your entire blog post explains that phenomenon.
This is my personal opinion. Maybe others won't agree, but everyone learns something with their practical applications and this is what I learned from mine.
Bonus Tip: Try to quote the person people admire because this would give its own impact.
5. Use SEO to get noticed.
SEO is always important for those who want to get noticed and want to get searched by the right people.
When I started writing I didn’t know a word about SEO.
All I know is writing a blog post with HOW-TO and Listicle titles but when I started writing professionally then I came to know that it's far more than catchy titles. I realized how important an SEO-optimized blog post is…to get noticed.
6. Write short but valuable content.
This is related to the last one but needs to be highlighted separately. It’s not always your word count that rises you on a crowd-pleasing search engine: Google.
Because when I search for a topic on Google, I often find those content that is short but worth reading for.
So always focus on quality and write for your readers.
7. Make your call to action clear.
Adding a call to action while writing your blog post is good because in this way you show the direction to your readers about what to do next
But make sure it is easy and clear.
If you want them to share, tell them how to share.
Any other call to action that you want to add, make it reader-friendly.
Conclusion.
Writing a blog post that brings results is not so hard, but there are a lot of things that you need to consider. A proper strategy makes your task easy no matter what type of task it is. Learning from your mistakes is always essential for you.
When I started focusing on these things I started getting the results and after learning from learning these lessons and improving them I completed my project about writing a blog post on self-development and Health niche with 4.8-star ratings out of 5.
You can do it as well.
