?? 7 Ideas to Cultivate Luck in Your Career ??

A Note on Connection & Trauma

Before I begin this month's newsletter, I want to acknowledge the difficulties our world is facing right now. So many are suffering, uncertain, and scared. We all need more connection in times of happiness and in times of sorrow and fear. Check on your friends and family. Hug a little tighter. Dedicate some time to process, cope, and comfort each other, even on work calls and in professional interactions. May we all find comfort, connection, relief, and a little luck ?? in the coming days.

Unlocking ?? Luck ?? in Your Career

Career success takes a lot of preparation, and maybe a little bit of luck ??. But, mostly preparation and meaningful connection, which leads to confidence, which leads to open doors and opportunities.

During the month of March, we often think of the "luck of the Irish" and four leaf clovers. When it comes to building a meaningful career, I find that behind luck often lies openness to new ideas, desire to grow and improve, getting creative when we hit roadblocks, timeliness of pursuing and discovering opportunities, persistence and not giving up, connecting with new people to gather information, looking inwards to stay true to ourselves through authenticity.

?? If you're looking for new resources, ideas, and opportunities to build your meaningful career, you're in luck! ??

Before we get to this month's recommended resources, would you consider helping me help you? Perhaps this new project will bring about some new luck and opportunity in your own career...

Help Shape My New Online Course for Career Changers

I'm working on building out my first online course on creating a connection strategy for career changers - anyone looking to move up, out, over, or to a new field altogether in their jobs and careers. If you're in the midst of a career change, or recently made one, would you take my quick 10-question research survey to help shape this online course? Your input will help me develop a meaningful and impactful cohort-based live online course on Maven, a new group online learning platform, and you'll get first access to join the first cohort later this year! I love learning and teaching in groups or cohorts because the power of your fellow students can multiply opportunities and grow relationships and professional networks, plus you benefit from the collective experience in the "room".

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Create a Plan?- Walk away with a Career Connections Strategy?
  • Get Hands-On?- Have workshop time where you will craft intentional outreach messages, dive into research about potential career contacts?and opportunities, prepare/practice for meaningful interactions like informational interviews
  • Actually Meet Relevant Contacts for Your Next Career Move -?Make at least one new high quality career connection, using the strategies we'll explore in the course, that will help you make a meaningful career change
  • Build Your Network Together, in a Supportive Environment?- Benefit from feedback, support, and career contact introductions from other cohort participants?
  • Get Extra Support?- The course may include free coaching time, office hours, free tips/tools to take with you along your career journey, and guest speakers (share your picks in the survey!)
