This blog post is PACKED with gifts for you, so keep an eye out, and let me tell you, the last trend I’m sharing is PURE GOLD, so read till the end!

A Trust Crisis

It’s getting really hard to know who to trust online these days, and cold, hard data backs up this feeling: as of Q3 2023, the number of Americans who say they don’t trust the media is 39%!

And while this number refers more to traditional media, it’s absolutely something that bleeds into digital spaces, social media, creators, and of course, consulting and coaching industries.?

I mean, how many times have you spoken to a sceptical client who said they’ve been burned before? I hear it all the time and there’s no way that the trust crisis isn't affecting their buying decisions and our businesses.

So I think that in 2024, trustworthiness and transparency reign as the most crucial brand attributes, and it should be our top priority to make sure our audience feels not only SEEN and UNDERSTOOD.?

And they can also feel safe in knowing that we are someone that they can ABSOLUTELY TRUST.?

So, how do you apply this to your business?

Get even more personal and make storytelling a core pinnacle of your content strategy.

What this looks like in my business going into 2024 is sharing more of my personal and business story in my content and being really transparent about what has worked and what hasn’t in my business at every stage.?

It also looks like listening even more closely to my community - olaar, that’s you! - and creating products that reflect your needs.

The excitement around AI is growing, but so are concerned

AI isn’t coming - it’s here. It’s been here, and it’ll be more here every single day.?

And if you’ve been playing with AI, I bet you’re really excited about it! I know I am, and I use it in my business every day.?

In fact, I even shared how I use it to repurpose one piece of content into many in THIS video, and you can download my ChatGPT content repurposing prompts by clicking the link in the description below - it’s my gift to you.?

But, and this is a big butt, your audience is SMART, and if you’re copy/pasting chatGPT content just to get more volume, they’ll know.?

In fact, even if you’re taking the time to revise your content, I guarantee that AI-generated content still runs the risk of being pretty shitty.?

I had this experience in my business just a few weeks ago.?

I fed GPT an amaaazing, super thought-out prompt, revised the hell out of the output, and when I was done, I read it over, and I was like, this is so scary because It sounds like me.?

It uses phrases and analogies I’ve used before, it draws from my experience, and at first glance, it LOOKS like a really good copy, but there’s no takeaway, no story, no relatability, no goal.?

NOTHING. I read it again and again and was like, “this says literally nothing”. I even titled it that!

But because it looks so good on the surface, people are posting GPT content left and right because it’s a fast, efficient way to have more content volume, and we’re going to see more of that, but can you imagine a whole internet full of content that has no meaning?

So, as AI continues to take over every aspect of our lives and businesses, be thoughtful in deciding which tasks to keep on your plate and which to delegate in your business.?

AI makes a great assistant—but you still have to run the show.

And to be honest I think a lot of people will fail to make that discernment, which means this is a huge opportunity for creators who are creating rich, nuanced, human content.?

In my business, this looks like going into 2024 with internal AI policies and best practices and making sure the whole team is aligned with how we use AI.?

We’re using it to brainstorm ideas, create many variants of a specific message for testing, and refine our processes, but it’s human brains and human words that are still behind it all.

Hey Boomer!

Here’s a riddle: who has been spending WAYY more time online and has MONEY to buy all the things??

BOOMERS!

There’s been a 57% rise in baby boomers using TikTok since Q2 2021, and they’re more likely to have bought a product or service online in the last week than Gen Z or Millennials.?

The data checks out, too - I see my mom on her phone ALL the time, and orders arrive at her house nonstop.?

That’s because boomers have more money, are more likely to own a credit card, and have higher purchasing power.

While Facebook is still their long-standing favourite, with Instagram at a close second, the number of baby boomers who regularly use TikTok and even Snapchat is climbing and will continue growing in 2024.?

This means that if you’re building your online business or still deciding what to create your course on now, there’s a HUGE opportunity to serve this market, which is still largely untapped and SUPER lucrative.?

Social is the new search

If you want real insights from real people, a Google search doesn’t always do the trick.?

But you know where you can reliably find a wealth of info from actual humans?

That’s right: social media.?

And in 2024 and beyond, social media channels represent the biggest threat to traditional search engines.

Recent surveys have shown that social media platforms are the second most popular way for Gen Z to research their shopping decisions, so while Google has its main search engine AND YouTube, it is right to worry about TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram encroaching on its territory.

In fact, TikTok is now integrating Google search results into its in-app results, and the platform has added robust search tools like Keyword Insights to its Creative Center.

What this means for your business is that if you’re not answering your audience’s questions on social, chances are someone else will (and it might be your competitors).

And as long as it’s still relevant, evergreen content can show up in social search basically forever.?

That’s part of the core reason I have such a long-standing love affair with YouTube -? I have videos from 5 years ago on my other channel that drive sales TO THIS DAY.

So now that you know that social SEO is going to be A THING, start creating content that answers common questions in your niche.?

Educational content is far more likely to show in search results, even months, and in the case of YouTube, YEARS, after posting.

In my business, we incorporate social SEO as a component of our strategy, and we rely on keyword research to build out our content calendars to make sure that it’s attracting my people.?

And I get that it can be a little confusing to know how to implement SEO on each social platform, but what did I say? I got you!

I put together a social SEO guide with tips on how to get people to find you on social media, and it’s my gift to you. Just click on the link in the description to download it.

Video will continue to dominate

That’s because video content remains one of the most engaging forms of content, and it continues to grow in popularity.?

In fact, in a Wyzowl survey, 86% of respondents indicated that video is one of the main tools in their marketing arsenal.?

In 2024, videos will continue to dominate social media and anyone who doesn't realize that will have a tough time staying relevant on social media.?

The good news is that YOU get to choose how to implement video into your strategy, whether it’s through TikToks and Reels to share quick bite-sized content or longer-form video on YouTube for in-depth training and tutorials.

Longer videos are making a comeback

Speaking of videos, here is a trend I’m super excited about:? longer videos are making a comeback!

And when I say longer, I don’t mean long-form like YouTube because that never went away, I mean a length of 2 to 5-minute videos instead of less than a minute.?

There are a few reasons why I expect algorithms will reward meatier videos.

The first is that platforms keep increasing their max video lengths like Instagram reels can now be as long as 15 minutes and reportedly, TikTok is testing this length too.?

Then, there’s the fact that users are increasingly turning to social media for answers to their questions, and creators need to be able to answer these questions more in-depth, which obviously takes more time.?

And finally, screen time for social media keeps increasing because people are turning to it for entertainment more than ever. Like- the full Mean Girls movie is up on TikTok!

I’ve been using video in my social media strategy FOREVER by uploading long-form videos to YouTube, repurposing it to short-form, and also creating original short-form videos.

Here’s how you can use this trend in your business too:

  • Lean into your evergreen video strategy and post timeless, in-depth videos with original audio that answer your ideal clients’ questions

  • Make your Reels and TikToks two- to three-minutes long and include timestamps in the captions or the video description so viewers can easily navigate through the content.

  • And make sure they’re entertaining and valuable to your followers.

Engagement - from comments to DMs

Adam Mosseri has said that most of Instagram’s recent growth has been in stories and DMs, so it makes sense that Instagram’s been rolling out so many DM-centered features like notes and broadcast channels, and the trend here is that engagement will continue moving from the comments to the DMs.

In fact, the comments are increasingly being used for sharing lead magnets with automation like Manychat, and that’s actually one of the main ways that I have been using Instagram comments to grow my list while using DMs to drive engagement.?

And because this strategy is so potent and more accounts are using it, the comments have become more of a commercial space, so It’s also no wonder that truly personalized conversations are happening more often in the DMs.?

So, to make sure to keep your engagement up even as it’s moving into the DMs, encourage your audience to DM you with questions and feedback, and make sure to keep the conversation going once they do.?

If you want to dive deeper into the comments strategy to grow your list, then check out my next video on how to 10x your leads from Instagram.

I’ll be back with another in-depth blog post like this, until then, I’m Lu Levy
