After talking with, interviewing, coaching and training some of the most successful Business Loan Brokers, there are several key habits that every top performing Business Loan Broker has. Although every broker has their own style of doing business, to be successful it takes a strong set of positive habits to get you where you want to go. Whether you’re a new Business Loan Broker or a seasoned veteran, these 7 habits can help you be a top performer year after year.
Habit 1: Communicate Effectively
Becoming more relatable to customers can be easy when you use the “FORM” method of conversation, a technique designed to help people with the art of conversation. It’s important to develop a level of comfort and trust before asking hard or intrusive questions. In my training, it’s taught to start your initial conversation by talking about “family,” then moving on to “occupation,” then asking about “recreation,” and last but not least, discussing “money/motivation.”
Habit 2: Stay Organized
Keeping and staying organized allows you to manage your time better, enabling you to focus more on what you want to achieve. By organizing what you do, you can better ensure that the tasks that are critical, get more priority. It’s really simple; if you are organized, you are more productive, allowing you to get more done.
Habit 3: Make Business Planning a Weekly / Daily Activity
On Sundays take the time necessary to set up a business plan for the week. Write down a list of all the items you’d like to accomplish and then prioritize them. Doing this will allow you to start each day by choosing one of the critical tasks or goals that you want to accomplish. Habit 4: Always Ask
One of the most important habits I’ve uncovered is top performing Business Loan Brokers are always “asking.” They ask their circle of influence who needs funding, they ask past clients for referrals; they attend networking events and ask for business; they ask the Uber driver if they’ve thought about starting a business. They make the call and ask the vendor for their declines. They just simply “ask.” Successful brokers make it a habit to ask for what they want, while non performing business loan brokers have a tendency to wish for what they want. Ask and you shall receive.
Habit 5: Follow Up, Follow Up, Follow Up
Just because someone isn’t interested or qualified for business funding today, doesn’t mean they won’t be in the future. Don’t let your leads age and fall through the cracks because you don’t have a follow-up system or nurture campaigns in place. Set up automated responses for your leads, and make sure you are calling, email, or texting them regularly. To earn and keep the trust of customers, don’t drop the ball at any of the follow up stages.
Habit 6: Taking Care of Your Body
Regular exercise can boost many parts of your life—including your business. Daniel works out four days a week at a gym near his house because keeping a regular exercise routine not only makes him feel better but also helps him sleep better and think better. Habit 7: Treat Clients With Respect
Respecting your potential customers is essential if you want to maintain a good relationship with them and ensure that they stay loyal to you. Get into the habit of approaching potential clients with empathy and respect. The Business Loan Brokers that treat their clients respectfully will win in the long run.
