It has been an exciting 48 hours filled with connections and conversations about the campaign and why I’ve decided to take a leave of absence from my Black job.?
This election is the most pivotal election in US history. I, like 75% of my fellow US voters, believe that American democracy is on the ballot. We ALL have a role to play in protecting our democracy.?
As promised, I’m sharing some concrete, tactical ways for you to get involved. Whether you have 5 minutes or 5 days, there’s something for everyone to do.
- Double-check your voter registration using this link. Make sure to know the dates of early voting, confirm your voting place, and check whether any identification is needed in order for you to vote.?
- Donate: Whether you have $10 or $10,000, donating is a simple great way to get involved. I know some people aren’t able to make donations to political campaigns. Here’s a great list of other organizations to support in addition to the campaign.
- Join an affinity group. Many affinity groups have been created recently, led by the success of #WinWithBlackWomen (one of the groups that I’m involved with). Most have weekly Zoom calls with practical tactics on how to get involved with the campaign.?
- Create Content. The campaign has a very active online engagement program with tools on how to create content in support of the campaign. Also, you can apply to be credentialed as a virtual content creator for the convention by sending an email to [email protected].
- Join an event. The campaign website has a robust events page with listings of several events and activities that you can join to get more involved-–including phone bank opportunities. Just scroll to find the activity that interests you the most.
- Hold a house party. Whether it’s with 10 other supporters or 10,000, hosting a house party is a great way to get involved in the campaign. Check out the Women for Harris-Walz house party tool kit for advice on how to hold a party.?
- Hold a larger event. You can find information about how to host a larger, campaign- sanctioned event here.?
The one question I’ve been asked the most is how to work for the campaign. The best way to get in front of the hiring team is to apply via the website. There’s a TON of positions available–especially for creative folks.
Kathryn, thanks for sharing! How are you doing?
