7 Examples of Positive Self-Talk

Your inner voice is the loudest. Harness the power of positive self-talk to construct deeper self-love and belief. Your mind is a delicate, essential ecosystem that needs the nourishment of loving, kind thoughts.

It’s not uncommon for most of us to keep a running dialogue inside our heads. This dialogue can range from giving ourselves instructions while we carry out a task, random observations about our environment or a situation, or it could be what is often referred to as self-talk.

Self-talk is the internal narrative you hold about yourself. It’s your inner voice and you may or may not have spent much time thinking about it or giving it any attention. The truth is, our self-talk can actually have a much bigger influence on the way we see ourselves, and the world around us than we realize.

Inner chatter is a powerful thing. We talk to ourselves every minute of every day. Let’s choose to make those conversations beautiful and uplifting rather than an inner dialogue that takes on a negative tone.?

Here are some examples of using the power of positive self-talk for constructive, intentional self-love. Your brain loves you.?

Do good and good will come to you.

1. When trying something new doesn’t go as planned.?“I choose to put myself out there and although it’s scary, I’m proud of myself for taking a chance. I’m growing with every new thing I try.”

Instead of beating yourself up over things you can’t change, feel good and proud for having tried.?

2. When apologizing for small things.?“I don’t need to apologize for every little thing. People are understanding and accepting of me, including myself.”

Over-apologizing is easy to do, and it’s a form of self-deprecation. The next time a knee-jerk apology appears in your brain, switch it out for something more useful, like saying thank you for waiting , instead i am sorry for being late.

3. When facing fears head-on.?“Even though I feel afraid, I don’t shrink away from fear and because of that I understand the strength of my inner power a little bit better.”

While parts of feeling afraid are normal and will always be there, gently approach your fear with love and understanding, and breath few deep breaths through fear. This will help your fear subside and help you to move forward in spite of fear.

4. When telling someone how you really feel.?“Honesty is bravery and those things will always be better than staying silent. I say what I need to say, in the exact way I need to say it and others need to hear it.”

Instead of replaying your moment of honesty over and over again in your head like a movie and critiquing every word, choose to feel confident in your own communication skills. Remember, it is not what you'll say, but how you say it that matters. And starts the sentence with I feel, instead of you make me or you made me.

Convince yourself everyday that you are worthy of a good life. Let go of stress, breathe. Stay positive, all is well.

5. When dealing with rejection.?“This wasn’t the right door for me. I always try my best but the outcome is not in my control. What’s meant for me will not pass me. I choose to view everything, even this, as a blessing.”

No matter how much practice you get with it, rejection never feels good. Balance it out by twisting every situation into an opportunity for gratitude.?

6. When wanting to break a bad habit.?“I’ve been doing this for some time now. I understand it’s not good for me. I choose forgiveness and deliberate change. Tomorrow is a new day to honor myself with better decisions.”

Falling into bad habits can happen like clockwork. Once you become aware of what’s going on, it’s up to you to forgive yourself and adjust accordingly. Doing some mirror work and forgiving yourself out loud works best. Look in the mirror (make a deep eye contact) and say; I forgive myself for A, B, C, D (7 things each day). Next look in the mirror and say 7 things you are proud of yourself for. Do the mirror work for the next 30 days and your life will improve beyond recognition. It will probably feel a bit weird at first – but it’s definitely worth it!

7. When feeling insecure.?“Feeling this way is understandable. But I am not seeing myself clearly. I am more capable than I realize. Every single day I am growing in self-love, self-confidence, and self-worth.”

Feelings of doubt and uncertainty creep in when we least need them. Sometimes we just don’t feel good about ourselves, and there’s not always a good reason why. Choose to react with buckets and buckets of self-love. You overflow with gentle understanding and empathy. Believe in yourself.?

Embodying a positive mindset takes practice. To transform your life, be intentional with the powers of your mind by choosing positive self-talk every moment of every day. Your mind is a delicate, essential ecosystem that needs the nourishment of loving, kind thoughts.

Mind talk is our guide, our precautioning factor to enquire within. Approaching strangers, entering fresh environments. Will they like me, where do I go now, I can do this etc.
