As we continue to navigate the ever-evolving world of technology, it can be easy to become completely immersed in our screens and devices. While technology has undoubtedly brought many benefits, it’s important to remember to take breaks and find a healthy balance.?

Here are seven rules I hope to implement in 2023 to help me detach myself from tech and find a healthy balance:

Set Boundaries for Screen Time

It’s important to set limits for how much time we spend on our screens, whether it be for work or leisure. Burnout can be prevented and hobbies and other activities can be pursued more freely.

Create Designated Screen-free Zones

Whether it’s a room in your home or a specific area outdoors, create a designated space where screens are not allowed. The constant stimulation of technology can be a welcome break.

Take Regular Breaks from Screens

Instead of constantly scrolling or staring at a screen, take regular breaks to stretch, walk around, or engage in other activities. The benefits of this include reducing eye strain and improving overall health.

Unplug Before Bedtime

It’s important to disconnect from screens before bedtime to allow for better sleep and to avoid the negative impacts screens can have on our sleep patterns.

Leave Devices Behind when Possible

Instead of bringing our devices with us everywhere we go, try leaving them behind when possible. The constant notifications and alerts can be replaced by face-to-face interaction.

Engage in Tech-free Activities

Make a conscious effort to engage in activities that don’t involve screens, such as hobbies, exercise, or spending time with loved ones.

Seek Balance in Tech Usage

Instead of completely cutting out technology, strive for balance in its use. Use it as a tool to enhance our lives, but also make sure to carve out time for other activities and hobbies.
