Today I am going to share with you 7 drivers that dramatically impact the productivity of Organizations and that Leaders are not able to see.
I have commented in other of my articles how Organizations are transaction processing machines that have zero contribution to the creation of value, on the contrary, this prevents them from visualizing different perspectives such as analyzing the managerial capacities of their Leaders, without a doubt this blindness leads them to lose the opportunity to achieve highly effective results.
Many Companies have not understood that Leaders will hardly put their deficiencies in management on the table, on the contrary, they will insist on using their old formulas and will remain trapped in their world of transactions, do not be surprised, this is the environment where they feel comfortable and where incompetence and comfort have their deepest roots.
Next, I list these 7 productivity drivers that the winning organizations use and that I have been able to validate in my passage through them.
- ?Make an effective diagnosis of training needs (TND):?Ordinary companies have a very ineffective way to design their TNC, regularly the Trainer gives a tour with each of the area managers and asks them for their opinion about what they need to be more productive, you can imagine the number of empty ideas and occurrences that results from this process. Enable your Trainers to make true diagnoses and if they do not have these scopes, then go to a professional. Don't waste your money or distract your Leadership force and line staff with mindless training.
- Do not be fooled by little mirrors:?Some companies in their desperation to train or educate their workforce make desperate and simplistic decisions such as requesting the intervention of motivators, believing that relaxing and entertaining staff for a few moments will make big ideas and changes start to flow. These companies must understand (diagnose) what is happening and the impacts it causes and the ineffective behaviors that this results in. The diagnosis will give you light on the path you should follow.
- Bet on Technology:?Even with budget limitations, seek to inject technology into your processes, retire your staff from the accumulation of transactions in which it is immersed. Technology will remove loads from the back of your employees that will make them react faster and with greater perspective.
- Invest in Your Leaders before or at the beginning of the operational year:?The winning organizations read the future (strategic planning) and then accelerate the preparation of their Leaders so that they can digest and act effectively in the face of the changes that are to come. If the operating year starts in January, then invest in your Leaders previous months, the reason, is very simple, you can have a Leader managing effectively from the beginning of the plan. Organizations that take time to start this process will delay obtaining results at the required level.
- Encourage decision-making and clarify the consequences for those who avoid them:?In the jargon of companies there is a term that is widely used, this term is “Let's Stop Kicking the Can Down the Road”. It describes Leaders who are unwilling or unable to face conflict to reach different solutions. Believe me that this is very common, and little attended by Organizations, it is undoubtedly one of the sources of greatest unproductiveness.
- Break the inertia of Comfort:?Winning Organizations do not base their success by repeating the strategies that worked in the past, remember the phrase “What brought me here is not necessarily going to take me to the next step”. Look for ways to remove the comfort of the DNA of the organization, if necessary, use specialized advice.
- Establish Service Levels between areas:?Ordinary Organizations have great shortcomings when synergizing. Establish methods and coordination (service levels) between areas that cause addition to the strategy.
?I say goodbye hoping that this reflection will enrich a little your actions in the organization.
