7 Deadly Things Holding You Back From Success In 2022

Undeniably, there is no magic key to success. If you want to achieve success in life, it is necessary to make sure to get rid of the things that hold you back. Breaking bad habits is one of the most difficult tasks for everyone.

But those who are determined to change their deadly behaviors at every cost, definitely win! In this article, I am excited to share some things that are holding you back from reaching your dreams.?

What Holds You Back From Success?

Let’s have a closer look at the 7 deadly things that hold you back from success.

  1. Saying Yes All The Time
  2. Dwelling In The Past?
  3. Surrounding Yourself With The Bad Company
  4. Staying In Your Comfort Zone Is What’s Holding You Back
  5. Seeking Validation From Others
  6. Equating Money With Success
  7. Making Assumptions & Blaming Others

1. Saying Yes All The Time

The habit of saying yes even when you don’t want to leads you to negative feelings and frustration. Where you no longer like what you do, feel burned out more often, and even start hating the person that told you to do so. Learning to simply say ‘No’ can do wonders for you and you can live your life hassle-free!?

No doubt that helping others is a good habit but saying yes to everything is something holding you back from achieving your goals. Your goals need your time and attention and giving it all to others prevents you from getting what you want.?

2. Dwelling In The Past?

Dwelling In The Past

Keep living in the past without cherishing the present moment is not a healthy activity. Those who dwell in the past are like those who continuously read the same chapter again and again and expect it to change, which is impossible.?

This attitude acts as a roadblock that holds you back and doesn't allow you to move forward in life. Realize that what’s done is done. You can’t change your past, so stop looking back. What you can do is learn from the mistakes that have been made by you and move on.?

“You must let the pain visit. You must allow it to teach you. You must not allow it to overstay.”

3. Seeking Validation From Others

People-pleasing and constantly looking for validation from others is one of the worst attitudes. No matter how far you go to please others, you will end up feeling invalidated. This behavior only makes you feel worthless and leads you to experience imposter syndrome, which means believing that you are not as capable as others think of you.?

Such an attitude prevents you from doing what you really want and doesn't allow you to see things from your point of view. Understand that everyone has their own opinions based on their experiences so it’s ok to have a changed perspective about something. You don’t need to fit in in order to be happy and feel worthy.

4. Surrounding Yourself With The Bad Company

Just like, “you are what you eat”, the same is the case with “you become, by which you are surrounded ''. Remember, you can’t roar like a lion if you are surrounded by a herd. This is something holding you back from doing your best work! If you are surrounded by negative people, change your company and see the results. In order to achieve success in life, you have to avoid the complainers and those who only know how to take not to give.?

"Surround yourself with people who push you to do better and be better. No drama or negativity. Just higher goals and higher motivation. Good times and positive energy. No jealousy or hate. Just bringing out the absolute best in each other."?

— Warren Buffet

5. Staying In Your Comfort Zone Is What’s Holding You Back

Being afraid of failure is the main reason that holds you back from trying out new things. And this behavior lets you stay in the safety of your comfort zone. All great legends, businessmen, entrepreneurs, etc. faced failures in their lives but they didn’t stop and kept moving forward. Being consistent is key! No matter how many times you face failures but never allow them to hold you back.?

6. Equating Money With Success

Equating Money With Success

It’s an old saying that money won’t buy you happiness! This doesn’t mean that you should not work hard or stop looking for ways to get money. Obviously, you need to earn to make a living. And it’s ok to believe that you deserve the best things in life but measuring your success by how much money you make is absurd.?

Instead of focusing only on the money you make, start analyzing the value that you are providing. This is a real success! Living for yourself is easy as compared to thinking about others because it demands determination, courage, and empathy.

7. Making Assumptions & Blaming Others

No doubt that most of the time assumptions lead us to disappointments. To improve your personal as well as professional life, learn to ask and make things clear before they start giving you a hard time.?

Moreover, blaming others for your mistakes is another main reason that holds you back in life. Because it shifts your focus to others instead of you. To overcome this, first, you need to take responsibility for your actions and then start making changes to fix your problems.?

Final Words

To conclude all of the discussion, it is worth mentioning that it is essential to get rid of those things holding you back. So in order to achieve success, you have to learn to stop hindering your efforts by staying away from the above-mentioned 7 deadly things. Live your life in a way that you can proudly say, I live the life I deserve!?
