7 Deadly Sins, New Wig, Clean Teeth, Enjoying Our Journey

“I am good, but not an angel. I do sin, but I am not the devil. I am just a small girl in a big world trying to find someone to love.”

— Marilyn Monroe

Good morning, I hope you are well, this is the mid-point in our week, we are on top of the mountain, we will begin our trek down tomorrow, look at the views, find a friend, chat about the world, this is our time to rest.

I was writing about envy yesterday, and as I pulled a quote, I was reminded of the seven deadly sins.  I took a minute to remind myself of all and then realized that much of my writings have to do with these seven ill-fated choices.

I don’t write much about lust, well I do between my Queen and myself. When you find your perfect mate, you no longer look to others for comfort, that “sin” is no longer a sin when engaging with the love of your life. I do know others that struggle with this sin, find the love of your life, and this “issue” fades.

Gluttony, I have to be careful here, anytime I write about obesity, I seem to get kickback about body shaming, it’s not that easy to eat well, it’s genetics.  The statistic I find interesting during this pandemic is that we lose 300,000 people to obesity every year while the numbers are hovering about 150,000 for this current pandemic. I don’t remember shutting down the economy for Gluttony, maybe that’s the solution, put people out of work, take away their money, don’t allow them to overindulge in all things nourishment.

Greed is good; to want to better one’s self financially is a gift – Gordon Gecko.  I think it a delicate balance to balance one’s striving for wealth and greed. I live my life building wealth but also giving others the spoils of our war chest. Don’t be greedy; be “givey.”

Sloth, this is the basement dwellers, the Cheeto eating crowd I mention now and then. The ones that want you to work so they can live sans work. They think it unfair you have three homes, and they don’t have any; it’s not fair; the system is stacked against them. If born in this country, you won the lottery, get busy and find out how to cash in your winning ticket.

Wrath, anger, frustration, all those emotions I think we should let go. The emotional person is not in control; settle your mind, let the bad stuff go, and replace the bad with the good. It’s an easy exercise, add in some meditation and yoga and learn it’s hard to get upset.  If someone harms you personally or emotionally, forgive them and move on.

Envy, well, I’ll refer you to yesterday’s soup. Many of us worked hard as young men and women; we now have wealth; it was not given to us; we worked for our spoils.  If you look at those that worked hard to gain a beautiful lifestyle, I’ll point you back to your early 20’s when you have the same opportunity we were given. Chances are you wasted time with video games, booze, and bad decisions. No matter your age, you can recover from all, get to work, and build your perfect life.

Pride is the feeling that you succeed without the support and help of others. It would help if you looked to something bigger than yourself first to understand your blessings. Then look to all those that helped you, educated you, and supported you to get where you are. We are a collection of our upbringing; I thank my parents, teachers, and mentors for helping me become the man I am today.

There you go, an overview of the seven deadly sins a good reminder as to where to focus your heart and mind. Well, maybe where to not concentrate your heart and soul, look at other things like love, joy, and happiness to help frame your reason for living.

I’m getting cleaned up for my daughter’s wedding. My hair was cut yesterday, but not to my mother’s satisfaction. My teeth were cleaned, my pearly whites are gleaming, and my new dental hygienist Step West is a wonderful young lady.   My daughter asked if I should be announced as Andy or Anson, it’s not up to me, it’s her call. But maybe, just maybe the Anson Show will become the Andy Show?  We shall see.  I’m off to change the world, doing my thing, trying to be my best self knowing other’s wrath. I lust after life, not separate beings, I could diatribe again about each of the seven, but I let this soup end right here.

“I am good, but not an angel. I do sin, but I am not the devil. I am just a small girl in a big world trying to find someone to love.”
