7 Cool Things We're Considering for Our New Los Angeles Office
A year and a half ago we moved in to our “new” office space. We had 12 full time team members and the new space could fit 35. We thought that would be enough room for 5 or 6 years. We were wrong.
Last week we signed a lease that will double our space. We do not move until the end of the year, so we have a few months to think of creative ideas for our new office. Below are some early contenders:
- Love Sacks! That’s right. Giant, luxurious beanbag chairs. If you’ve not plopped down in one, you’re missing out. Perfect for an informal catch up or a face down nap.
- Ping pong table. Such a tech and millennial cliché, I know. But my backhand needs the practice.
- H20. Water is the only drink we buy for the team. And it’s not one of those prison things where we only feed you “bread and water.” Bevi is NOT your average water dispenser. It offers “flavors, fizz and eco friendly fun.” Enough said.
- The Cue. What’s better than our current 1 person phone booths? 2 Person phone booths. Because 2 is more than 1.
- Hoteling. We’re not starting a VRBO for professionals – although that’s a good idea. But we do want to incorporate more open, collaborative and informal spaces for team meetings and huddles. We are who we are… and we’re informal.
- Going vertical. Why knock down walls when you can knock down the ceiling? We’ve always wanted to add a few rows of stadium seating to our conference rooms. With enough seats to hold the fans of your favorite D3 team.
- It’s alive! Have you seen those “living” walls in offices? Not only are they amazing to look at, they increase the oxygen in the office and promote a healthy environment. And they’re another reason to use the Bevi machine – just sayin.
- Videos everywhere. Video screens with digital dashboards to display our KPIs are a fun and great way to communicate with the team. The screens double as video conferencing boards.
Yesterday we showed the team the current state of our new space. It’s one of those ugly, walled off, drop ceiling environments – there is a lot of work to do to make it ours. We’ll find a fun way to solicit the input of our very creative team. This space is for all of us. And we have room for you. Plug in today.
