The 7 Benefits of freezing your ass off
I have a love/hate relationship with cold showers. My mind and your mind are our biggest enemies, but they can also be our best friends. I want it to be my best friends, and so I take cold showers.
It's really simple...and then again not so simple, but the results are amazing.
1. It will boost your immune function.
It triggers a neural anti-inflammatory called norepinephrine, and studies have shown that a cold shower can raise the tolerance of the body.
Wouldn’t you want to make sure that your immune system is as strong as it can possibly be with all the things that are happening in the world right now? It’s kind of like nature's vaccine.
2. It speeds up your metabolism.
Studies have found that people who take cold showers daily show an increase in metabolism for one main reason and that is increased activation in brown fat which is used to generate heat and insulate us against cold.
Brown fat is the hardest fat for our bodies to get rid of as it’s the insulation of the body.
When you take a cold shower and begin to shiver, what your body is doing is generating heat through the brown fat which is insulating you. So it boosts your metabolism and gets rid of the brown fat inside your body.
3. It improves your blood circulation.
What I notice every time I get out of a cold shower or pool is that there’s a clear difference between below and above my neck. Below my neck is like a bright red and the reason is that the cold forces the blood out to your skin.
4. It improves your hair and skin.
It actually tightens the skin and the pours. It’s kind of like a facelift for free and at the same time, it keeps all the natural oils in your hair versus a hot shower that strips all those natural oils.
5. It helps you with better sleep.
When you take a cold shower, it lowers your core temperature, and that calms your mind and helps you get to sleep. It can be really good to do it an hour before bed.
6. It increases your focus.
Your body gets a massive rush of adrenaline and releases norepinephrine and therefore increases your energy and focus.
So if you do it in the morning it gives you a ton of energy, I bet you won't even need that cup of coffee to wake up.
7. It conquers your mind.
This is the reason that I do it. Every time before I’m about to jump into a cold shower or pool, I notice that little voice inside my head telling me that there’s no need to do it.
This is the same little voice that holds you back from doing everything that you want. I do it because I don’t want to do it. I jump in there because I want to conquer my mind.
It’s never you versus anyone else in this world. Your life is you versus you. The version of you that wants greatness versus the version of you that tells you not to do the things that you know you should do.
I know 95% of you won’t take a cold shower, but that 5% of you that do will see those benefits and I guarantee that you’ll be in a completely different place in a year if you continue to do it every day because you’re training your mind, you're working on conquering that negative voice.
There are many physical benefits, but it is the one thing that will conquer your mind in the simplest way.

4 年Brilliant! If you let "feeling" control you then you will never have the ability to control your feelings.....the winner doesn't always feel like doing anything but they do it regardless of how the "feel" thanks for sharing!
