We recently completed the 6th workshop on roads design safety as part of the UK highways team vision for people development aligned to business, in which 45+ road engineers who joined us during Q3/Q4 2023 to work on T&I road design projects in the UK gained awareness on risk assessments in line with CDM2015 during a 3-hour workshop held on 7 and 14 December at iCRC UK Highways in Bengaluru and Noida. The workshop focuses on road safety throughout the design, construction, operation, and maintenance phases, and it includes attributes of complex road design as well as active travel design for carrying out risk assessment stages, namely hazard identification and risk management. The session addressed scenario-based case studies on managing both trivial?and non-trivial hazards using the designer risk register and GG104 assessments. Participants also engaged in hands-on activities.
The broad theme development and updates were provided by Ernie C. and Leigh John ; case-studies were compiled by Andrew Palmer ; and the collaborative?workshop was conducted by Anita Thomas / Jayprakash Rathod in Bengaluru and Adarsh Raj Srivastava in Noida. We are also grateful to Venkat Lakkavalli and Stuart Oliver for their vision and continuous?contributions to make this happen.
?I would like to express my gratitude for the workshop from iCRC UK Highways to 12 Safety Stewards, Cost Centre leads and Team Leads - Chethan ML , Nidha Vinu , @Nageshwara Rao, Benson Mathew , Gourav Sharma, PMP? and Amit Bhasin PMP, IEng MICE, MBA(BA,S) for effective engagement?of?45+ participants.
Already, 150+ delegates have been acquainted through six workshops on design safety in the past 4 years. In 2024, the workshop will be expanded to include other disciplines and many more delegates with comparable skill sets
