#69 How Will These New Vehicle Rules Impact You? Find Out!
With a growing number of aging vehicles on the road, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has introduced draft amendments to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. These changes aim to streamline registration renewals, revise fitness certification fees, and strengthen compliance for older vehicles.
A key update in the draft rules is the revision of registration renewal fees for vehicles older than 15 and 20 years, with new rates based on vehicle type and increased fitness certificate fees for transport vehicles over 8 years old, which will rise with vehicle age. Additionally, GST will now be applicable on all revised fees for registration, fitness tests, and renewals.
