650 - 13th St. NE
Our early morning temps were remarkably high which was another surprise considering how late in the year it is, but we're definitely not complaining about it. Of course sometime around one this afternoon, the wind changed directions and the weather turned ugly. Unfortunately I was out on an appointment and managed to get almost soaking wet while taking photos of my new listing located at 650 - 13th St. NE here in Mason City.
Most of my morning was taken up with getting fully prepared for tomorrow's closing, along with meeting the buyer over at the home to do a final walk-thru. As I suspected, all went very well, and happy to find the buyer excited over getting moved in and settled before the holidays arrive. I dare say there'll be no future complaints.
Just as I was leaving, I ran into a person who belongs to one of the churches I play for, so we stood there and had a good chat, and for whatever reason, the thought of his deceased neighbor whom I'd casually known came to mind, so I proceeded to ask a few questions. Oh my goodness! I could hardly believe what was told me about the condition of the home to where it ended up getting sold privately, and only because of the long-term neglect and hoarding that had gone on for well over twenty years. I knew the person was a little on the quirky/sensitive side, but never would I have guessed that home being in such a state of neglect, and especially from the outside, because the few times I happened to be on that street, it looked like an absolutely normal home in a newer subdivision. I'm sure the neighbors were talking up a storm after they found out about its neglected interior and chronic hoarding. If what I was told this morning was the absolute truth, then it'll be one more classic example of how some can appear to be normal in public, but when indoors, their true characters are fully revealed. How sad.
Getting back to today's listing, I have to admit it's a little late getting on the market, but I'll remain hopeful there are still be buyers out there who're looking for a three bedroom ranch home under $100K, which in this market is hard to come by.
It's been family owned for decades, and since it's on a quiet street and close to an elementary school, it should be attractive to the full spectrum of buyers, and especially those who're wanting to do their own cosmetic improvements. The furnace is relatively new, the bath has been updated, the walls and ceilings look good, and as a bonus, its corner lot size is 55 x 161, which would give the new owner more than enough room to build a monster 3-stall garage, and still have more than enough yard for a patio and play area. With it being brick, there'll be little or no exterior maintenance, so if you know anyone looking for a solid 3 bedroom ranch home with a full basement that could be finished-off for an additional bedroom and family room, have them give me a call.? If you click on tonight's photo which is the exterior shot, a slide show will begin. I'll be posting it out into the cyber-universe early tomorrow morning.

I've been paying closer attention to the political rhetoric that we're finding in the news feeds, and exceptionally glad I still refuse to watch or read anything coming out of Fox News because they're very good at twisting truths around, which is why I prefer to follow the few news services which are highly rated and continue to fact-check before they share. My all-time favorite has been BBC which offers not only un-biased National news, but also International, and if you hit the 'News' tab at the top, you're given a choice as to what country's or areas of our world you want to read about, which I like very much. Yes, they've definitely got their 'shite' together.
I'm still of the belief that our Supreme Court's knocking-down of Roe vs Wade, is going to create a kicking-back in the voting booths by the millions of women who now feel they've been turned into second-class citizens. Being a bit wickedish when in conversation with someone recently, I flatly asked, “So, why don't they come up with a law against suicide, because that's another example of someone doing something most consider wrong with their bodies? Right?” And my belief regarding both abortion and suicide, is that if people make personal choices about their bodies, and completely resolute about it, then it's never an 'if', but a 'when'. I'm sorry, but that's pretty much the way it ends up. I've decided to wait until election day to vote, and hopefully be one of the first thru the door.
