The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority has trained nearly 600,000 young people in data and AI, according to the Saudi media. Oxagon and IBM have build a Robotics Orchestration Platform to manage autonomous mobility in the new industrial city. Meanwhile, Hyundai Motors signed an agreement with Red Sea Global to trial EVs, hydrogen vehicles and develop autonomous mobility.

Saudi trains 600,000 youth in AI & data

#Saudi #education - New education and training initiatives created by Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), together with its academic and technology partners, have so far trained 590,000 students. Saudi Arabia is systematically upskilling its current and future workforce in via a raft of government-backed education and training programmes targeting every level. (Arab News)

Dubai school trials robot teaching

#UAE #education - GEMS Dubai American Academy is using Softbank Robotics Pepper robot for a school-wide trial. Middle and high school students use the robot to practice their coding skills, creating a lesson for Pepper to deliver. New of the trial was featured on CNN this week. (CNN)

Oxagon, IBM build autonomous robotics control platform

#Saudi #NEOM - NEOM's industrial city development Oxagon, has announced a Robotics Orchestration Platform, co-created with IBM. The AI platform will monitor, control, and orchestrate robots, drones, and autonomous assets involved in last mile delivery. (LinkedIn)

Hyundai, RSG to develop future mobility

#Saudi #SouthKorea #mobility - Hyundai Motor Group signed an agreement with luxury eco-destination developer Red Sea Global for future mobility projects. The deal includes trials of electric vehicles, hydrogen-powered cars and collaboration on advanced air mobility systems, and autonomous vehicles. (KED)

Built on the company's dialectal Arabic language speech to text engine Intella VX, the new product provides an AI-powered media transcription service transcribes all dialects of Arabic, and translate them to English. #Saudi #digitaltransformation - The Saudi Digital Government Authority has launched the 2024 edition its Digital Transformation Index for 2024, an initiative to help inform public sector decisionmakers about technology evolution. Participating organisations collectively achieved a progress rate of 85.53 percent, compared to 81 percent in 2022 and 69% in 2021. (Arab News)

Olive oil producer CHO Group is using AI to improve crop harvests, manage the impact of climate change, while providing traceability to its entire supply chain using blockchain. Arab states sign first UN AI resolution

#UN #AI - The United Nations General Assembly last week unanimously adopted the first global resolution on AI, that encourages countries to safeguard human rights, protect personal data, and monitor AI for risks. The non-binding resolution was co-sponsored by Jordan, Morocco, United Arab Emirates and 100 and 17 others. (UN)

Saudi Arabia joins Science20 meet

#Saudi #Science20 - King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) represented Saudi Arabia at the meeting of the Science20 group in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, an initiative within the G20 aimed at leveraging science for global transformation. (Saudi Gazette)
