60 Seconds with...Steve Bromwich

3 interesting facts about Steve

  • Before my recruitment career started I worked in travel, organising and escorting groups of golfers around the world and playing golf with them.
  • I worked a summer season in Majorca as a travel rep for Thomson Holidays, looking after under 10’s in the Big T Club, one season was quite enough!
  • I was once selected to play in a charity football match against the Aston Villa Allstars, what an amazing experience, they were still very good.

Tell me a little more about your career with Crowe…

With 20+ years recruitment experience working within various market sectors including finance, law and accountancy I joined Crowe in July 2016. The aim was to create a team of trusted advisors that could recruit for the business, reduce the agency spend and develop our reputation and brand out in an extremely competitive, candidate driven market. This development of our brand is bolstered by attending graduate and school open days, advertising nationally, utilising Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Reed and Indeed to name a few.

What’s your favourite thing about working for Crowe?

Without doubt, our people. It’s the people within Crowe who make Crowe. When I joined Crowe 5 years ago we were approximately 550 employees, we are now 1000+ strong but we have kept our identity and culture.

What makes Crowe unique?

The past 15 months have been so challenging but have definitely reaffirmed what makes Crowe unique for me. Every day my team and I are speaking with candidates who are employed elsewhere, who have not had the same support and transparency that our business has shown its employees during the pandemic. It makes me extremely proud to work for Crowe!

A little more about the Recruitment Team…

Shortly after joining the firm I hired Alicia Zarandi as a full-time recruiter. Alicia is responsible for all experienced hire recruitment across each office and every service line. Alicia and I meet with hiring managers to work on vacancies, provide market intel and do proactive candidate and brand work for each area of our business.?We then hired Bushra Qadeer who looks after all things graduate and school leaver from initial attraction to onboarding.?Bushra also handles the marketing, brand awareness and open days associated with our early careers. Beckie Edmonds joined us in September 2019 as the support function to the team including website management, advertising ownership, application sifting for both experienced hires and trainees, contract requests and database cleansing. Covering each office and each service line is a challenge and over the past 8 months or so recruitment has ramped up even further – it is such an exciting time of growth for our business and the team are enjoying the opportunity to plug our brand out in a highly competitive market.

A great 60 seconds by Alicia with her colleague Steve Bromwich. Steve, our National Head of Recruitment, alongside Alicia and the team, are pivotal to Crowe in our continued search for talent as we continue to grow. I think Steve’s mantra of treat others as you would like to be treated, always act with honesty & integrity, and, respect others, reflects his approach and is aligned with the values Crowe represents. For anyone looking for a career with Crowe, please do not hesitate to reach out to Steve, Alicia or the team to start the conversation.

I mean Crowe is a great place to work, but I have to question the decision to give up a job playing golf around the world.
