What drew you to becoming an Economist?

I always liked a variety of subjects at school so initially I enjoyed how Economics combined quantitative and qualitative elements. I continued to see how the subject could have so many different policy applications at university, and I wanted to keep exploring this through my career.

Why did you join WPI Economics?

Working at WPI Economics allows me to contribute to a really diverse set of projects, which makes my role here as an economist very unique. It was also clear from the beginning that the team here is friendly, supportive and really valuable to be a part of.

Tell us about a project that has captured your imagination:

I have enjoyed being involved in several Value for Money evaluations at WPI Economics, which seek to provide insights into the use of public resources. We are currently producing assessments across a range of policy areas, including transport, employment and skills, and crime, with our findings underpinned by the use of rigorous analytical modelling.

Tell us one thing about yourself that people might not know?

I trained in various dance styles growing up and still love to make it to a ballet class when I get the chance.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I like cooking, doing yoga and Pilates and exploring London – I only just moved in September.

Today is International Women’s Day with the theme ‘Inspire Inclusion’ - do you have any advice for young women thinking about studying or pursuing a career in Economics?

I would definitely suggest keeping up to date with the pioneering work which women are producing in this discipline. Claudia Goldin winning the Nobel Prize in Economics last year for her research into women’s labour market outcomes is the ultimate inspiration!

What would you say makes WPI Economics different from other consultancies?

I would say principally it is our team. Every person who works here has a fascinating background and skill set, which comes together to produce thoughtful and innovative insights for our clients.
