Pragmatic Cyber & Information risk management for businesses that take security seriously
Tell us briefly about your background in IT.?
I started working for a global insurance company providing first and second line support straight out of school in 1998. I decided to follow my family to the UK in the second half of 1999, but found it very difficult to find a similar role in the post Y2K job market so took several sidesteps in my career. In 2020 I decided to step down from my managerial role in retail to go to university and study Cybersecurity.?
How do you keep up to date with trends in the industry??
I enjoy listening to podcasts and audiobooks, and doomscrolling cybersecurity websites and Reddit long after I should be asleep!?
What does the future look like at CyberScale??
It is never dull and there is always something new and exciting on the horizon. On a personal level, I am excited about developing my skills and knowledge in a fantastic environment.?

Having staff that are knowledgeable and aware of cyber risks, and confident in reporting any potential breaches is one of the strongest defences in a business environment.?
Where do you see the enterprise IT department in the future??
There is already a shift from a purely operational to a more strategic and agile role. The ability to embrace automation, AI, and cloud technologies while maintaining strong security and governance will be key.?
What advice would you give to your 21-year-old self over a coffee??
Invest in yourself. The associated costs of IT training are high, but invest your time better and learn something new every day. Most importantly, listen to people and MAKE BETTER DECISIONS!?
What professional accomplishment are you most proud of??
I’ve built several high performing teams and helped to develop team members who have gone on to have successful careers, but I am most proud of taking the risk to give up my job and go to university. It was an amazing experience and will set me up for the rest of my working life.?
