1. Humility matters.

2. Never try and predict the weather.

3. Fresh air will always do you good.

4. Never feel the water before you jump in.

5. If a street performer makes you stop, you owe them $1.

6. Always travel with a light jacket, ear plugs, and sunglasses.

7. Never cancel dinner plans by text message.

8. Read the Poem “Man in the Arena.”

9. When entrusted with a secret- keep it.

10. You only get one chance to notice a new haircut.

11. A suntan is earned, not bought.

12. Never lie to your doctor or lawyer.

13. All guns are always loaded.

14. Never get your haircut the day of a special event.

15. Be mindful of what comes between you and the earth, always buy good shoes, good tires, and good sheets.

16. Know when to apologize, and do it.

17. Don't take photos with alcohol in your hand.

18. You don't get to choose your own nickname.

19. When you marry someone, remember you marry their family.

20. Know your ancestry.

21. Invest in great luggage.

22. Give credit, take blame.

23. Never be the last one in the pool.

24. If you've made your point, stop talking.

25. If you offer to help, don't quit until the job is done.

26. Look people in the eye when you thank them.

27. Address people by their name.

28. Never answer the phone at the dinner table.

29. Know at least one good joke.

30. Know how to cook one good meal.

31. Learn to drive a stick shift.

32. It's okay to go to the movies by yourself.

33. You're never too old to give mom or dad a hug and a kiss.

34. Always thank the host.

35. If you don't understand- ask.

36. Keep your word.

37. Carry your mother’s bags, she carried you for 9 months.

38. Learn to change a tire.

39. Listen to your grandparent’s wisdom, they've been there.

40. Don't litter.

41. If you have a sister, get to know her boyfriend, your opinion matters.

42. You're never too old to need mom.

43. Know the words to the national anthem.

44. If you have to fight, punch first and punch hard.

45. Live with moral fiber.

46. Never laugh at anyone's goal or dream.

47. Success is revenge.

48. If you keep denying, they'll stop inviting.

49. Always buy good toilet paper.

50. Sometimes no plan, is the best plan.

51. Try to avoid traveling to the same place twice.

52. Be sure there is toilet paper before you sit down.

53. Know the laws of the country before you visit.

55. You're never wrong to do the right thing.

56. Always assume the door is a pull...if not, then try and push.

57. When you order food for pick up, always check it before you leave the establishment.

Just had an epic fail on #57. We asked "Is everything there? It looks light. Are you sure?" The answer was "yes", so we didn't check. Got home...it wasn't all there. Luckily the lesson was not too painful.? After a five minute drive back to the establishment, they had the missing dish in the warmer and a $10 gift certificate by way of apology. I could do without the gift certificate...so will forever remember #57!?
