60 Pearls of Wisdom

60 Pearls of Wisdom

It was the year 1997. A teenager was upset over some petty issue (important for her at that point in time). She was wondering about life and aspects revolving around it. She had many questions. What would one do to get answers? Well, she read the newspaper and some specific columns in it. The speaking tree and quotes were her all time favorites. She had a habit of either keeping a cutting of any article she liked or she noted down some quotes or sentences that she instantly connected with.

Fast forward this to 2022. We recently shifted to our new flat. While unpacking and going through some old books, I came across this very fragile paper. It had turned light brown or something and as I held it, it tore into several pieces. I got curious and was wondering what was written in that paper that it was preserved for 25 years in a book. So, I took a see-through tape and like a puzzle arranged it and stuck it. It had 2 sides and some 60 sentences.

I literally had butterflies in my belly and couldn’t stop reading what was written. To my amazement, there were 60 quotes or inspirational sentences that I had written roughly 25 years ago. All of a sudden, like in a flash, so many memories came back to me. I realized that I used pen down any quote or article that I connected with and would read it when I was low or felt that life was harsh. I would call this paper-60 Pearls of Wisdom. I’m not sure who all wrote these or maybe I have written some of them. At that time- I really didn’t have much knowledge about copyrights and giving credentials to the original writer (chuckle).

I’m hoping to discover more such pearls in the bag that is yet to be unpacked.

By the way, it’s a miracle how this was preserved as I shifted to another city in a different sate after marriage and changed 2 houses- this is my 3rd house. Its nothing short of a miracle that this page was still intact when I found it. And the timing so seems miraculous. Maybe it was for some reason….
