60 Days In

60 Days In

It wasn’t too long ago we were exchanging New Year pleasantries with family, friends, and colleagues. Just like that, March is here. How’s your year shaping up so far?

I just learned that the VC firm I mentioned in an earlier post has successfully closed its third multi-million dollar fund in less than 5 years, putting it on the verge of $1B in assets under management (AUM).?

A consumer goods company founder I connected with last year recently announced a major acquisition, giving them a national scale and greater control over their production and distribution processes. They topped off that announcement with the launch of a new product.

And then there’s Nvidia. The company’s market value has skyrocketed lately, breaking the record for a single-day increase in value and vaulting the company to become the third-largest company by market capitalization in the United States.

I love reading and sharing success stories like these. On the surface, these three stories are quite dissimilar. What does a large conglomerate with global corporate clients have in common with a privately owned, domestic consumer products company? How comparable is a $1B AUM VC firm with a $2T chip manufacturer?

As I dug deeper, I uncovered a common thread in the founders and leaders of these organizations. They are gritty, going about their business with stubborn confidence they are building something of value, no matter the odds. This brings to mind an inspiring Stan Lee clip I watched recently. He tells the behind-the-scenes story of how he created Spiderman. It's worth checking out.

Most likely, you started the year with some concrete goals for the year. 60 days in - are you still pursuing those goals or have they fallen by the wayside? Your resolve may have been tested or is still being tested. The success stories I highlighted above took way more than 60 days to materialize. If you’re pursuing something of significance, it will likely take material time to hit your goals. You must take the rejections, the detours, and the outright disappointments in stride and keep pressing on.?

So, it's 60 Days In - are you still in or have you checked out on your goals? It’s time to go all in!
