60% of Consumers Rely on Social Media

Social media has never been more relevant, and the numbers show it! These are some statistics and figures from recent consumer research that clearly illustrate that social media is one of, if not THE most important thing to invest in for the growth and relevance of your organization or business.?

450 people were surveyed for the data below:?

  • Dominance of Social Media:
  • 60% of respondents rely on social media as their primary source of information for content. This indicates the significant influence of platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter in shaping consumer perceptions and preferences.
  • Significant Use of Streaming Services and TV:
  • 18.8% use streaming services, while 12.5% rely on TV for information. This shows that visual and digital media play important roles in providing product information and reviews to a substantial segment of users.
  • Limited Influence of Podcasts, Newspapers, and Magazines:
  • 3.8% each use podcasts and traditional media sources (newspapers or magazines), indicating a lesser impact compared to digital and visual media.
  • Minor Influence of Other Sources:
  • Only 1.3% rely on other sources not specified, suggesting that alternative channels have minimal influence on consumer decision-making.

Another study, with a smaller sample size of 150, shows the same trend yet again, with 77% of people selecting social media as the #1 way they consume media.?
