6 years on, 25 years in the making - WDCS Search

Wow, I can’t believe that WDCS has been trading for 6 years, happy anniversary us!? Not many of you know, but WDCS was formed with no business plan, partners or any idea how to go about running a business.? It went from a resignation of a role where ‘bad practice’ was being taught and instilled in its consultants, to an idea of how I wanted to change the perception of recruitment in one morning.? Pretty scary at any time, but the fact we’d had our first child some 4 weeks before made it even more real.

?

Since then, we've placed numerous key hires in FTSE100 to start-up organisations, survived a pandemic, helped shaped recruitment within various business, created great working relationships with hiring managers and TA teams, helped build diverse work forces, helped a scaling tech business now have over 25% female tech talent and so much more. I finally think some people are appreciating how we work and what we can offer.

?

Yes, our approach isn’t for everyone – we want to be a partner and help scale and build tech teams in the right way, we want to be heard and listened too when we offer advice backed by data, we aren’t the cheapest, but we are fucking good at what we do.

?

Yes, they’ve been lessons learnt along the way, make sure there is enough cash in the bank in case a pandemic breaks out, don’t have all your eggs in one basket, you need to keep selling, to keep developing building relationships – we will come on to this more in a minute and don’t believe everything you hear.

?

What has struck me more than anything is how important developing relationships is,? I’ve knocked on many a door with no answer in the past 6 years, only for those who ignored me to come knocking on my door when I have something that benefits them.? Sorry, but relationships are a 2-way thing, best answer the door next time I come knocking.?

?

Since starting WDCS and being able to focus on more quality and being able to offer a better candidate and client experience, business has been great.? We are a break from the norm, I think there is a saying “If you always do what you’ve always done, then you will always get what you’ve always got”.? It’s sad to hear so many companies complain about bad recruitment experiences, think they don’t need agencies to hire or just can’t get the talent they need, only to establish that they are still using the same techniques from 8-9 years ago.

?

The world has move evolved massively, many agencies are now using more and more advancement in AI/tech to help find/identify and speak to talent that old school approaches just won’t achieve.? I’ve heard that 70% of talent is not active on the market, won’t respond to LinkedIn messages or apply to adverts – yet that is how most businesses still recruit.? Headhunting still yields the best approach and results but many consultants don't know how or won't do it.

?

If you want something different and want to build and hire talent you need to change, the first way or being able to do that is by giving WDCS a call, we will happily discuss your current approach and find better ways of hiring.

?

Remember at a business we are 6 years old, but experience wise we’ve got over 25 years during which time we have recruited for Tui, easyJet, TripAdvisor, IBM, Rabobank, Abercrombie & Kent, ABN AMRO, Shell, BP, Play.Com, Tesco, River Island, Kuoni, Worldstores, Bank of America, Clifford Chance, GSK, Parexel, Ocubis, Ten Group, The Workshop and many more

?

We take finding the best talent serious, strong work ethic and no role is too hard – might just need a different approach, happy to chat about any problem recruitment campaigns you are working on or an talent pipelines projects.
