A 6-Year-Old Created My Publishing Company

I was 6 years old when I decided I was going to open a book publishing company.
Can you imagine the decision of a 6-year-old changing everything?
Allow me to share with you how one moment—one book—sparked a dream that shaped my entire life.
The Spark of a Dream: Christmas 1989
As a little girl, books were my escape. My home life was difficult, and in books, I found solace—a book cover doorway that, when opened, allowed me to move away from reality and into fantastical worlds. The pages of Narnia and other magical lands became my refuge, and I devoured every story, training myself to see the world through different lenses.
Then, in Christmas 1989, my uncle visited with a stack of books. Among them was a hardcover book—the first I’d ever owned. It was beautiful, and I promised myself I’d read every single word.
But it was the Copyright page that changed everything.
At just 6 years old, reading this page inspired the realisation that books didn’t just appear—they were created by someone, by a company. The idea of being part of that world felt so magical.
And so, right then and there, I decided I would one day own a publishing company. I would help people bring their words to life and send them out into the world, and help enhance people's lives, just as those books had done for me.
And so I did.
The Leap of Faith
In July 2013, after years of navigating my own challenges through childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood, I launched my publishing house. That moment was filled with joy and light—a fulfilment of a dream that had been with me for 24 years.
But the journey wasn’t easy:
I launched my company during one of the hardest periods of my life. I was the newly single mother of 9-year-old and 9-month-old daughters. I was escaping a marriage with the most horrific domestic violence. And I had left a life in France to begin again back home in the UK.
Looking back, that chapter speaks volumes about my inner strength and the determination I had to make my dreams a reality.
We all face hard things. But we can each do hard things. Every single one of us. And this was definitely one of the hardest I’ve journeyed through.

The Dream Realised
Now, 11 years on, we’ve been privileged to publish thought leadership and authority books that not only change the lives of their authors but transform their readers, too.
And today, our impact has grown beyond anything I could have imagined:
→We help people outline, write, and publish their dream books.
→We ghostwrite for high-level clients.
→And we even help high-achieving professionals launch their own publishing companies, empowering them to incorporate publishing into their businesses.
And the best part? Every publication feels just as magical as the first.
The Heart of It All
Following my dreams has taught me that daring to try is the most needle-moving, impactful thing you can ever do. If I hadn't really dared to do the thing, imagine all of the books that would never have been published.
And the same applies to our authors...
86% of Americans dream of writing a book, yet most will never do it. But when someone dares to begin, everything changes. Dreams become reality. Their book becomes their bridge to new opportunities, clients, and impact. They grow their businesses.
But they also get to whisper to their own 6-year-old inner child: I did it. I wrote the book I said I'd write.
Your Turn
Turning dreams into reality is what truly changes things. And so I ask you: what if, this year, you said yes to that whisper inside you—the one that believes in the magic of your story?
If you’re ready to make that leap, I’m here to show you it’s possible.
