6 weeks off

I'm not writing about heat pumps this week, its the Summer holidays, time to take a break from the boring stuff and focus on something more serious.
If you've got kids you will be very aware that the 6 week holidays are coming to an end shortly. Some of you I bet cant wait till it ends. If your kids have already left home you will just appreciate that there is has been less traffic for a while. For us teachers its a time to re-write courses and get ready for the new intake of learners soon to appear.
But most importantly, if you are a student the 6 week holiday is a time to let your hair grow and put it into an interesting style, like a Mohican. The Mohican is a great hairdo, Its arguably the king of the hairdos. There is nothing that says "I dont work for the man" like a Mohican. Most of us wage slaves would be instantly dismissed if we turned up in the office sporting a doo like this. Its the sort of hairdo that makes HR professionals really twitchy.
Old white men find this sort of thing super offensive, that's why its so good. It reminds them of what they could do if:
A, they didn't work for the man
B, were not receding and thinning so were incapable of growing a doo like this,
C, were not old and boring.

This fella in the photo is the son of one of my best and oldest friends, and I have to say I'm super jealous. Good on him, that style shows he's got commitment, he's probably got impeccable musical taste and he's spent his time over the Summer achieving something impressive, that he will remember forever.
Be honest, have you done anything as impressive or memorable this Summer?, me ? No, I've done a bit of excel.
If I was the boss I would definitely give him a job, on the condition he kept the hair style. Good Job George, I was never that cool. Enjoy your time off, and stick it to the man.

3 个月A friend who I love to dj beside can often be seen sporting a moheican, and is over 50, although you wouldn't guess it. He lives largely off the land on a permaculture collective (actually a high-effort way to live compared to most of us i think), and their small family changed their surname to Freeland to further mark that they definitely don't work for 'the man'.
