6 weeks.
"Because much more often than you'd think, sheer persistence is the difference between success and failure." ― Donald J. Trump
With six short weeks left until IRONMAN California and 4 weeks until I taper, this past week was my largest volume week, with 256.1 miles. This will be my last training week with 250+ miles in a week.
6,562 yards of swimming | 37 miles of running | 201.3 miles of cycling, and 14 miles of recovery walking miles with Mico!
Highlights of the week included my 4th 17-mile run @ a pace of 9:28. I knew it was going to be an ugly run when I woke up (major gut issues), so, with intention, I left my phone at home and went out running. I got sick around mile 14, slowed my pace to 10-minute miles, and got it done. When I finally stopped moving, I had major cramping. While some runs are effortless, this one was not. Take the good with the bad.
On Sunday, I rode 75 miles, followed by a 3-mile run off the bike @ a pace of 8:33.
Before I taper in four weeks, I will do at least 2 more half-marathons, either a century ride or the Uber Pretzel on Zwift (both will take the same time), and continue swimming.
IRONMAN training has taught me so much about mindset and resilience. Not to mention, motivation is 100% BS. You must be disciplined to drive results, even when you don't feel like it. With bad hair, car accidents, and other extreme adverse circumstances, not to mention I am tired from long training hours, I stay focused on the long goal.
I haven't taken a single day off since December 7, 2020. I am not talented enough to shortcut my way to this 140.6-mile race, so I put in long training hours.

This year, I am proudly joining a select group of athletes from around the world on TEAM IMF to support the mission of the IRONMAN Foundation. Together, we share a passion for creating positive, tangible change in our race communities and proving that "Anything Is Possible" as I train for my first 140.6-mile triathlon consisting of a 2.4-mile swim followed by a 112-mile ride and 26.2-mile run through Sacramento on October 23, 2022.
Please donate to the IRONMAN Foundation, every dollar counts! The money I raise will benefit community groups & organizations in our community(s) via grant funding. In 2021 alone, the IRONMAN Foundation distributed more than $2.1 million to 1,500 organizations worldwide. $100 could mean bikes for several kids, money that helps keep a community center pool open or money that goes to honoring Gold Star families, or supporting diversity in sport through initiatives like Women For Tri, an organization I am passionate about as endurance sports has dramatically changed the trajectory of my own life.
