6 ways to enhance your Salesforce development experience by using Google Chrome extensions

If you’re an experienced Salesforce administrator, you might already know that Google Chrome is one of the best supported browsers for Salesforce. But there are some Google Chrome extensions that will make your Salesforce administration experience even better. I’ve been using them a lot during the last few months and thought we should share them with you.

Boostr for Salesforce

Boostr for Salesforce extends your capabilities for building change sets. This extension adds a very convenient search bar to the different change set components and allows to filter elements by object. In addition to that, it solves some of the small annoyances you’ll experience when using Salesforce setup. Ever encountered you being faster than your webbrowser? This extension prevents the setup search field from automatically being populated with a placeholder text so you can start typing right away! If that wasn’t enough already, Booster also adds ‘check all’ checkboxes to almost all setup lists.

Salesforce Navigator

Salesforce Navigator brings a Spotlight-like (Mac search that opens when you press CMD+Space) search bar to Salesforce that makes it extremely easy to move to any page within Salesforce Setup from any location within Salesforce. In addition to that, this extension allows for new fields and even new records to be created directly from this search bar. Must-have for the Salesforce admins who basically live in the setup pages.

Force.com Logins

This convenient Google Chrome add-in helps you to easily log in to the different Salesforce environments you manage. Additionally it supports encrypted storage of your passwords and the paid version even allows you to set a default landing page so you’ll automatically end up in setup when you log in.

Salesforce API Fieldnames

Simple but very effective - the Salesforce API Fieldnames extension allows you to quickly toggle between the regular page layout and a page layout where all the field names are replaced by it API name.

Salesforce Colored Favicons

Salesforce Colorod Favicons gives differently coloured clouds as the favicons (little icons in your browser tabs), which makes it easier to differentiate between environments while working in multiple sandboxes or orgs at the same time. Never make changes in the wrong sandbox anymore!

Salesforce.com Enhanced Formula Editor

Salesforce Enhanced Formula Editor updates the standard Salesforce.com formula editor to a more advanced one that includes markup (for a better view on more complex formulas). Also gives more detailed information on different fields referenced within the formula.
