6 top tips to consider when choosing a relocation company ...

We understand that relocating any business can be stressful. For 25 years we've been helping companies nationwide with their relocations and we are here to help you too! But where do you start and what should you consider? Here are our 6 tops tips to consider when choosing a relocation company to help with your next move .....

1. Do they have the necessary skills to carry out your relocation?

BE INFORMED ... always check how long a company has been in business before agreeing to use them. Check their accreditations, insurances, ask for testimonials from past and current clients, ask for a company number and we'd recommend you carry out a credit check on them.

2. Do they have availability on your required date(s)?

OBVIOUS ... might seem like an obvious question, but this is fundamental, as most reputable companies book work weeks/months ahead. Don't leave booking your relocation company to the last minute!

3. If you have IT, will they decommission and recommission it for you and how will it be transported?

IT - PARAMOUNT TO ANY BUSINESS ... always make sure that the company you appoint has the workforce that are skilled in the full spectrum of IT and server relocation projects. We have vast experience and have been involved in many large and small IT and server relocation projects and can support all your IT and technology relocation requirements, regardless of what system you use.

4. Do you require your items to be packed ie. filing – are their staff DBS checked, does the company follow the required GDPR guidelines?

A MINDFIELD ... make sure the company you use have vetted all their employees and that they are GDPR compliant. We always carry out DBS checks on all our employees, with their agreement and have a working GDPR policy in place, to handle all their client's personal data.

5. Ask if you will be provided with a fixed price quotation?

BEWARE ... of hidden charges and costs! Always check what is included in your quotation. We always recommend a free-of-charge survey which allows us to supply you with a fixed price quotation for your relocation.

6. Do they offer a FREE?no obligation site survey?

CALL TO ACTION ... this is an essential part of choosing your relocation contractor. If a survey isn't carried out then you are left open to additional charges and delays on the day. Common problems missed by not carrying out a survey can be access and parking restrictions, long-term road works in the area and specialist furniture requirements ie. bench desking, meeting pods, photocopiers etc. Here at Russell Fewins we always provide a FREE no obligation site survey before you confirm - it's all part of our service!
