Are you looking for a Job?
“GAME ON”
I have seen more than 100 job seekers, experienced and fresher, a few from my relatives, friends, college fellows and references, who literally don’t know how to find a job. They landed here with no plan, no real-work and zero research about the market, job sites, career pages, companies list, and even their resume not fit for the position or industry they are interested or most of the time unable to express the work performed and achievements earned. Many irrelevant sections in the resume or not match with the title even.
Most of us have gone through from the Job Hunt phase and recently one of my friends’ cousins came for job hunt and I was so upset when I review his resume and his approach. So thought to write this article for those who are looking for the job, who are willing to visit UAE for the Job, who want to switch but still have no clue and don’t have any clear guidance. I hope these smart simple tips would help you to find a job quicker and save your time, energy and gives you a focused unwavering mindset.
UAE is an ocean of opportunity, a superb place to work so never miss the chance. Be Organized, pre-planned and search in a structured way, it would surely help you to get a job in the minimum time period.
2020 is approaching so it’s a great time to go in with a structured plan in a focused, goal-oriented way. If still struggling in job search, try these smart tips:
1. Resume: A Best Fit
Write your resume in a very professional way, it’s your first impression, make it a breathing document not just a piece of paper, in fact, it’s your advertisement. Write your strengths and skills, experience and achievements in a way that grabs the recruiters’ attention. If you’re unable to write a best-fit resume then take help from an experienced professional in your circle, he/she can be your brother, sister, senior, teacher or also online many freelancers and templates available which guide you about it.
Also, your resume will first be screened by an applicant tracking system and then reach the relevant human, so make it simple, relevant or mirroring with the Job description keywords, skillset and strength required. But if you don’t do this then at a very first phase automatically your application will be rejected or not get notified that’s why no response/call you have received even after thousand attempts.
2. Make a List of Companies and Company’s Career Pages
Always make a list of companies who have departments where your education, experience and skills set can fit or the people who have a similar skillset and education are working. Make a list in excel sheet, contact details, email and when you applied last time to get an update. Also Must apply through their Career page and advance search page, make complete profile don’t miss the sections and also don’t forget to set job alert, check these pages 2-3 times in a week and also their social media sites and LinkedIn page might to know the job post.
Get connect with their relevant department head/decision-maker through LinkedIn/job poster and share your interest with him/her there too. Don’t forget to follow-up so contact HR or job poster, even after the interview sends a thankful note, it’s a way to stand out from the crowd. Also, do calls and try to connect with the decision-maker, it's hard but helps a lot. Your purpose is to get the job so even if no answer or unfavorable response it should not affect you, it doesn’t matter don’t lose heart and keep doing. It’s a temporary phase so never depress and never lose hopes just need to be focused, organized and follow the standard tips.
3. Niche job boards
You should search those sites which cater your area of interest such as; Government jobs, Finance jobs, Banker jobs, Medical professional jobs, Audit Firms, Tech jobs, idealist for nonprofit work openings.
4. LinkedIn
It’s not only a social networking site, but it also has a job board. Search, apply, connect, build a network and be visible. Be active on the LinkedIn, join the groups of your interest, keep sharing your ideas, comments and also get connect to the companies you wish to work for, follow their page and get the latest news and job posts plus develop network with the people working there, it helps you to get in there soon.
If you are a professional then it’s not just enough to make a profile, but also be active and make yourself visible as if someone finding a person who has skills and experienced up to your level then he/she notify and reaches you quickly.
5. Registering on Job Sites
Register with the job sites, don’t go for all, just a few which really work so I advise don’t waste time in making profiles on those sites which don’t offer job relevant to your area or which don’t have quality jobs. Once finalized the list, complete your profile, and start job hunt plus also activate job alert.
The best job search sites include: LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Bayt, Monster, Google for jobs but don’t rely on these only, in fact, visit company pages and do networking, ask for references and get connect with alumni and socialize.
6. Develop Yourself
Improve your skills and get the latest knowledge. Don’t waste time whether you have a job or in the searching phase. Remember, a skilled person will never remain unemployed for a long time, so sharpen your skills, develop new skills and get more knowledge, earn more certificates and never stop learning.
Be Positive, Search intelligently and Stay focused, Wish you all Good Luck…!
