6 Tips for Cleaner Windows
6 Tips for Cleaner Windows
Whether you're putting your house on the market or just want your space to sparkle, clean windows can really help your home look brighter from the inside, and out. Most experts suggest cleaning your windows at least twice a year, or at the end of every season. Below are a few insider tips for cleaner windows.
Make your own mix. According to Gardenista.com, a great DIY cleaning solution is as follows: combine juice of ? lemon, one tablespoon of cornstarch, ? cup white vinegar and one cup for water. Mix well, transfer to a spray bottle and go. While the solution may appear chalky at first, keep rubbing for sparkling windows.
Rub with newspaper. Instead of using paper towels to clean your windows, try newspaper for a better shine.
Clean your screens. Although it can feel like a pain, make sure to clean your screens when you do your glass, or you risk windows that still look dingy despite your best effort.
Use a rain repellent. Plenty of products are available these days that offer a window cleaning solution AND a rain repellant. This helps keep your windows sparkling even after heavy storms—ideal for spring and winter weather.
Microfiber method. After you've washed your windows, consider drying them with a made-for-glass microfiber cloth to buff and polish.
Timing matters. It's best to wash windows in the early morning or early evening when the sun isn't too hot. If you wash mid-day, you risk your windows drying too quickly, leaving streaks of solution you haven't yet washed away.
