Creating an Intentional Journey

The 6 things you need to reach your aspirations

Here’s a thought that crossed my mind this morning; ‘I live free from negative attachments, I live free from habits filled with pressure to perform, I live free from addiction, I have control of my moments, and I have successfully created systems and processes that work well for me, so what is the simplest way to share what I have worked hard to gain?’

I want to start with the fact that this didn’t all happen. There was certainly a period when I felt something was a mission or not quite complete. But, in fact, in that space, my mind kept spiraling around those things I wanted to get done, all the projects I had in the process, and everything my calendar held as unavailable time for the week.

Then it happened. I saw my vision, my list, my systems, and processes and realized I had yet to create an appropriate place for the opportunities to be integrated. It was time to stop facing them in a spur-of-the-moment fashion, almost “willy nilly.” It was time for me to create an effective action plan that contained my aspiration with all the objectives that would allow me to attain them. (Note: action planning removes scattered thoughts and the anxiety induced from pointless “future tripping”) I also needed to have everything in priority order with target and completion dates because doing so will afford me clarity and focus. And lastly (well, for this part anyway), I had to examine every piece of white space (unbooked time) on my calendar.

To make it easy, here are those first three steps:

Step 1: Set aside time to list out those aspirations. (Planning removes overthinking and anxiety)

Step 2: Create an action plan complete with each objective. (Don’t forget to add desired completion dates; keeping your priorities in order is critical)

Step 3: Create a new and improved agenda, make appointment times with yourself on the calendar, blocked out as if it is a meeting with a client. One appointment for each aspiration or objective so that you can seek a focused inspiration

?I’m sure there are many of you out there saying, “I don’t have time to give my dreams and aspirations. I have so many other commitments, kids, work, the household responsibility, and all the other daily activities I have on my plate; they don’t afford me any time to do anything other than operating on auto-pilot.”

Believe me; I get it!

Also, times are different now. That is not going to change. What we called normal before no longer exists. Time does not repeat itself.

So, let’s move forward, embracing each moment as an opportunity for something new to emerge.

It is completely up to you to fill your time, mind, and experiences the way you would prefer.

Here are the final three steps, and I caution you to look at these with deep intention because they have everything to do with your mental processing:

Step 4: Embrace the challenge of change. If you keep doing things the way you have always done, NOTHING will improve.

Step 5: Stop the rehearsals. You can go over potential scenarios in your mind, continuously seeking one that feels comfortable before you move forward, but the problem with this is that isn’t what happens. So NO, you are keeping yourself stuck in what may or may not happen land.

Step 6: Take control of your outcomes. You must stop relying on someone or something to produce the outcomes you desire. This means you have to let go of the “I don’t have time… I will when… If only they… That didn’t work… “etc. mentality. If you want something, it is your responsibility to make the space, create the plan, own the objectives, do the work.

I believe everyone benefits from having a coach. I lean into coaching groups and activities with professional that have something I want! Athletes, entrepreneurs, all the way through to people recovering from an injury, all have a coach on their team, and sometimes more than one!!

My mantra = This is my life too; it can look, feel, be however I want it to!

And it can become your reality too!

If you are tired of your negative attachments ruling your days, if you are ready to let go of the tired habits that are holding you hostage, and if you are willing to release yourself from the addictions keeping you down (behavioral, process or chemical in nature) I have done all the leg work for you. I can show you how to live for yourself first, free from negative attachments, people-pleasing codependency, and impulsivity. All without feeling guilty, selfish, punished, or restricted.
