There are many WordPress settings which should be done to run your website again. It’s always recommended to backup your WordPress website.
You should also know the different ways to backup your WordPress database so that both the backups can be used to restore your website properly.
In this article, you will learn the things to do after restoring your WordPress website.
WordPress Settings Required to Run Your Website
When you restore your website whether to a new web hosting or on the same web hosting with the different database, you would need to connect it to the rest of the data.
Let me start mentioning the things you should know about.
#1. Update the Database’s Credentials
If your website was hacked then you may need to create a new database to import the database backup.
Once you do that, your website will show “Error establishing a database connection”. It’s because your old database doesn’t match with the new credentials.
To fix this, you have to edit the wp-config.php file. The database name, database password, host name etc.
This is the file responsible for making the database connection of your website’s data.
#2. Reinstall the WordPress Plugins
If you haven’t found the vulnerability then you should delete all the plugins and install them again.
It’s because maybe the hackers have injected any malicious code in any of the plugins’ coding files. Maybe they have found a back door.
To get rid of that, reinstall all the plugins and test each plugin on the localhost. If everything works fine, it’s good for you.
#3. Keep Your WordPress Website Updated
It’s not a new thing to any of you. It’s always recommended to keep the WordPress core updated.
You should never use the outdated plugins and WordPress themes. Many people ignore this sensitive concept and face a fatal.
You have just restored your website so it’s important to fix everything which even has even 1% chance of having a vulnerability.
