1# TikTok Added Photo Mode for Still Images

TikTok finally retaliated to Instagram's imitation of its original content by introducing a new 'Photo Mode ' for still images to the app. Photo Mode pretty much looks exactly like Instagram, with users able to post carousels of still images that users can swipe through in the app. Initially, this feature didn't seem to make a heap of sense on TikTok – but since its release has been used widely and loved by users on the platform. It has opened up new creative options and has birthed hundreds of new TikTok trends.

2# Instagram’s Tested a New Option Which Allows You To Add a Song to Your Profile

Last month it was rumoured that Instagram was testing a new feature that would allow users to add a song to their profile. As you can see in this example from Alessandro Paluzzi , Instagram users would be able to select a song to show on their profile alongside a customisable caption. It’s currently unclear how often you’d be able to alter your soundtrack or even when the update will be rolled out. It’s definitely giving MySpace but this update is a good reminder that all trends come back around at some point, even those on social media! What would be your song of choice?

3# Instagram Launched Testing Of In-App Scheduling

Social media marketers rejoice! Internal Instagram scheduling looks like it’s on the horizon. A live test of in-app scheduling has been launched by Instagram, initially with a small number of testers with the likelihood of expansion in the near future. In-app scheduling could be a terrific addition for creators, allowing you to plan out your Instagram publishing schedule whenever you choose while still having access to all of Instagram's creation tools and options.

4# TikTok Announced Their New Partnership with Linktree

In order to increase referral traffic from the app, TikTok has announced a new partnership with Linktree that will provide creators with more options for referral links that are seamlessly incorporated into their TikTok profiles. In order to provide profile visitors more avenues to connect, TikTok creators have always had the option of including Linktree links in their bios. However, this new integration will improve the experience even more and make it simpler than ever before to connect the two platforms. This is the perfect opportunity for creators and businesses to drive traffic to external locations of their choosing.

5# Musk Finally Took Over Twitter

With Musk's $44 billion acquisition of the firm finally closing in the final week of October, the Elon Musk era at Twitter has officially begun. Musk got to work right away, dismissing numerous key executives, including the platform's CEO, CFO, and head of legal policy, trust, and safety. Given Musk's prior criticisms of Twitter's executive team, these actions weren't surprising, and it's unlikely they'll be the last. According to rumours circulating, Musk plans to cut up to three-quarters of Twitter's present workforce in order to reduce costs and refocus the app. It's still early to predict how Musk may change the app. Musk's intentions, which include increasing subscriptions, offering multiple algorithms for a more personalised experience, and enhancing the app's data targeting for ads and other content, have been outlined in basic terms. 6# Twitter’s Blue Tick Subscription

Musk is really taking centre stage last month with endless rumours of ludacris updates. According to a new report from The Verge , Elon Musk’s first directive to the Twitter dev team has been to create a new tier for Twitter Blue which enables users to essentially buy a blue tick, for £19.99 per month. According to reports, Musk has also contemplated charging users who currently have a blue tick a subscription fee to keep it. Whilst I don't believe many people will purchase, a blue tick does have some status within the app and does provide you with some further credibility. However, the actual app usage experience is mostly unaltered. The infamous blue tick might lose its true value if it can be purchased rather than awarded.
