6 Secrets to Successful Weight Loss
Mike Howarth
Making high achieving men unstoppable. Welcome to The Peak Performance Project.
Afternoon team.
I’m yet to hear anyone say they want to go on holiday self-conscious or unhappy with how they look on the beach or by the pool.
Not being in control of your physical and mental health is a bind.
Our weight, shape and health are the biggest indicators of our lifestyle decisions, and it's easy to see if we're in proper physical health.
Here are 6 secrets to losing weight today.
1) Stress
Living with unnecessary stress in the body and mind is self-defeating and contributes to poor food habits, motivation levels, feelings of lethargy and a depressed mood.
(When fat, I'm anxious)
In order to lose weight, it is of primary importance to reduce stress wherever possible.
Box breathing, cold showers, being more active and improving your water and protein intake are all good ways to reduce stress and increase happiness.
2) Sleep
After a poor night's sleep, we feel shocking.
The lack of energy, low moods, and mental focus make it impossible to make good decisions.
This also means negative self-talk ramps up, our preconditioned behaviours continue and we don’t change our habits long-term.
The only thing that can combat a poor sleep routine is a collection of other factors that strengthen this weak link.
Full disclosure: I struggle with sleep.
However, the recommended advice is to consider sleep as an area of opportunity when sustaining energy and managing weight.
Sleep can greatly aid or hinder weight loss.
3) Steps
When we want to stick to a long-term plan, it's crucial to have the correct organization and layering of habits and behaviours.
A suitable analogy here would be building a house.
Skipping meals or making short-term decisions is like camping. Fun once in a while, but no way to live.
Build your future like a house - Build it right, build it once.
4) Sequence
Now we have the correct steps in place it's important that we sequence them in the correct order based on relevance, necessity and priority.
For example, for many of the guys I coach the first domino to knock over is alcohol.
We tackle that as soon as we start the program and syllabus as a first priority.
It’s not enough to have the right parts, they have to be put together logically and correctly.
Again long-term success requires this so don’t miss it in pursuit of stretching yourself too thin.
5) Structure
Imagine flying in a plane.
Imagine all the parts of the plane that have to go together just right for it to work. Imagine what that plane can do with a good design.
Now imagine one part of it isn’t attached properly – it doesn’t fly.

That's how most people approach their health and lifestyle transformation efforts and programs.

6) Success
Let's face it, when push comes to shove, it all boils down to success.
My 12-week blueprint, the results my clients get and even the meaning I bring to my business and life, it's all about success.
Success and achievement.
You reading this, me doing what I am doing or all the hard work and effort that has been put into The Peak Performance Project is pointless if you don't succeed in your transformation.
Sure you can use my system to drop body fat, improve your nutrition and get into the right frame of mind...
...But given the type of clients I work with, more often than not as a result of the work we do...
...they end up making a fortune in their business too.
This transformation program helps you lock horns with the ideal version of yourself while supporting slow and steady changes towards that goal every day.
Truth: Just "losing weight" never works.
It's too surface-level, but you already know that.
Last but not least, introducing...
The 3 levels of learning.
There are three levels of learning are intellectual, social and experiential.
The people who get the best results shift from thinking to watching to doing quickly, then they’re golden.
In doing so, you bypass self-imposed doubts and analysis paralysis your mind produces when it tries to overcome itself.
As with most important things in life, nothing changes until a decision is made, and a strong one at that.

PS As men, we can be embarrassed or even shameful asking for help.
Let's just kick that into the dust with this bonus takeaway.
The one and only thing that binds the most successful people in the world is that they hire coaches.
Think about that while you're contemplating pulling the trigger.
If you want to be 10, 15, 20, or 30 lbs down and in a completely different headspace than you are now in 3 months, and you want to do it without too much thinking...
