Tired of applying for jobs everywhere and getting no response. Here is what you can do to stand out of crowd and attract a Recruiters attention from 100 of resumes they see on a daily basis. Looking at the current hiring situation it’s very important for us to do something better than everyone else in the industry.
Resume:
Your resume has to be not more than 1-2 pages. We have come across resumes of more than 16 pages which is ridiculous, a Recruiter will not spend more than 10 seconds to 30 seconds reading your resume. So be concise clear in what you want to add on your resume. Add your accomplishments and the best things that you feel proud of on your resume.
Work Samples or Portfolio
If you are a Software Developer make sure you have a Github or Stackoverflow
or a Bitbuket link that you can add on the Resume. If you are a Designer add links to your portfolio a website or Dribble or Behance. If you are a Mobile Developer make sure you add links to the applications you have a Developed. Add LinkedIn, About or Twitter links. These things will absolutely catch the attention of the Recruiter.
Be Creative & Use a Good Format
Have a good format of resume, if you are using a ready template from online sources make sure they have proper margins and use good colours if you want to
make your resume colourful. If you are not sure which colours to use ask an expert or don’t experiment at all. Add pictures, Infographs, company logos, make your resume as creative as possible.
Be Concise & Clear
Instead of adding 5-10 lines of responsibilities in each of your Jobs add few lines explaining everything in detail. Don’t forget to mention your Educational Qualification with your GPA and final year thesis if possible. Mention any extra-curricular’s you like, any awards or recognition you received.
Cover Letter & Signature
At last make a nice cover letter explaining; why you are a good fit for the applied role and what you bring on table for the company. Do not copy paste stuffs from your Resume, cover letter has to be different. Lastly research about the company pretty well and add a few lines on the cover letter if possible and also make a signature with some of your social profiles and the best contact methods.
End things in the right way
Use a PDF version if possible, it gives a better impact to your resume, plus you can use multiple picture & stuffs and have a secured version of your resume. If you follow these points, I am sure you will start receiving calls from the Recruiters in few minutes after sending them the resume. All the best and let me know if anyone has any other point that can help candidates in making a good resume and lets help them find their dream jobs.
