Here we are, two years later and on our 6th run of the Cisco CyberOps Microcredential hosted on FutureLearn. The first landed at an interesting time, as we all entered lockdown, an emerging pandemic and many life changing situations for all of us.
After running the first edition, we took a break, recommencing in October - normally, we would offer three a year, March, June and October - which means that now, we are officially commencing our 6th (not 7th run). So far, the official analysis of the module team is ...
'Well, we didn't break it!'.
We have seen 900+ students engage, numbers change nationally in this domain and use this microcredential as a foundation for five others with more to come. This course has already been mentioned in dispatches by the OECD (you need to dig in to p22) and has gained the attention of come interesting competitors (yes, we do see you).
This isn't by any means a solo endeavor, help from Amel Bennaceur, Nuno Guarda, Rebecca Harrop, Mohamed Kazi, Kevin Church and more recently Jason Trott made this work.
As shared last week, Microcredentials are a voyage into the vocational and academic hinterland, where both domains can be satisfied ... seeing the numbers after two years, there is evidence that with a little market positioning we could be reaching many more.
