6 Reasons Why Your AC Is Not Cooling Properly

Do you find that every time you switch on your air conditioner, it doesn't produce any air that is chilly enough to cool your home or office?

This is a result of various AC malfunctions. Depending on how serious the issue is, it may need a simple fix or the services of a certified RAC technician.

You might be wondering who an RAC technician is. They are qualified individuals that set up, fix, and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems that regulate the temperature and air quality in homes and businesses.

So, before you require their service or attempt to fix an air conditioner yourself, let's look at some of the reasons why your air conditioner isn’t cooling. Some of these reasons might be technical, and some might not.

  1. Clogged or Dirty Filter: Clogged or dirty air filters result in AC systems failing to cool If the filter has dust and dirt in it, the thermostat's performance may not be at its best. They block the vent from letting cool or warm air through. So, make sure your air filter is clean or replaced.
  2. Low refrigerant or Freon level: A refrigerant is a working fluid in the cycle of air conditioners. In this cycle, they go through many changes from liquid to gas and back again. If your AC is low on this substance, it won't be able to cool the air in your house or place of business. And a lack of refrigerant may be the result of a leak. To avoid this, your air conditioner should undergo servicing at intervals.?In the interim, you can also tell when your AC is low on refrigerant by listening for a bubbling or hissing sound. When you notice such, contact a technician to fix any leaks. And to also recharge the system with the correct amount of refrigerant.
  3. Faulty AC remote: Another reason is when your remote is unable to connect with the AC unit to regulate the temperature. Then it only takes changing the remote to fix the problem.
  4. Wrong thermostat setting: A thermostat is a sensor that detects the surrounding temperature. Then tells the compressor whether to begin or end the cooling cycle. If your air conditioner is not cooling, you should examine the thermostat's operation. Ensure the settings are correct.
  5. Faulty Compressor: Compressors are an important part of an AC. If the compressor gets faulty, then the air conditioner will not cool the room. There are many causes for a compressor to fail, so an accurate diagnosis might be challenging. It is important to seek a second opinion from a technician to make sure you have the right diagnosis.
  6. Inappropriate AC unit placement: Air conditioners have inside unit and outside units.? To guarantee their efficient use, these units must be installed correctly. Think about how big the indoor unit's room will be, before installing it. If a large room houses an indoor unit that is intended for a small or medium-sized space, the indoor unit won't function as it should. Also, for outdoor units, make sure it is kept out of the sun's direct rays because prolonged exposure to it can cause the compressor to overheat and shut down.

These are all common errors that prevent your air conditioner from cooling properly.

We advise hiring a professional to service and maintain your air conditioning system to prevent unexpected expenses and damages.
