6 Reasons Why Posting Quotes Should Be Part of Your Facebook Strategy

6 Reasons Why Posting Quotes Should Be Part of Your Facebook Strategy

Quotes are on every social media feeds. It's on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, you name it.

It's hard to miss them, and there's no escaping this particular type of content.

If you despise motivational or inspiring quotes, I'm recommending you to read this post with an open mind. I'm here to answer the question that you had in mind all along but was too afraid to ask. 'To quote or not to quote.'

I've read posts that advise you not to post quotes because it's so commonly practiced that it has a negative perception. Seriously, I can't believe they are looking at the same statistics as I am.

I'll say this. I disagree! Even large influencers like Kim Garst and Neil Patel are posting them.

Look at the engagement that quotes get. It's proof that it's working and there is something to this strategy right?

Let me say this, quotes are a type of content that you should post. In fact, it plays a vital role to your success, especially on platforms like Facebook where Facebook's algorithm determines what people see.

1. Quotes help Edgerank

Facebook's Edgerank is an algorithm developed to show what appears on people's newsfeed.

Quotes should play a role in your content strategy because people can relate to them easily. Quotes are universal, and it can easily be consumed by any demographic. This can help with your engagement on Facebook, which will boost your Edgerank score.

When more people engage with your quotes, it's more likely that they will see the next content that you'll post. This is how you can consistently get onto your fans' newsfeeds.

2. Easy to create

Quotes are also easy to create. You don't need to go out to take a photo, don't need any studio, or even a camera.

All you need is a computer or a mobile device. You can create your version of inspiring quotes with platforms like Canva for desktop or apps like Wordswag on mobile.

3. Easy to find

If you don't like to create them, you can easily find quotes. Quotes are easily searchable on platforms like:

  • Pinterest
  • Tumblr
  • Google
  • Instagram
  • & more.

4. Easy to consume

As I mentioned earlier, quotes are easy to consume. It takes a few seconds to read them and it doesn't require fans to head to a blog/website just to consume them.

These type of content tends to get a lot of engagement, likes and shares FAST. Because of this, you’re more likely to go viral with quotes.

5. It doesn't have a shelf-life

How many times have you seen quotes that constantly get shared?

Quotes don't have a shelf-life unlike some types of content. Sometimes old content can suddenly go viral because people were going through one content and decided to share one of them.

6. Increases Facebook reach

Quotes can also help to increase Facebook reach.

The best news is, you won't need a large audience to go viral with quotes. Sometimes, all it takes is ONE. Since they are easily consumed, one person can make a whole lot of difference for reach on your Facebook page.

I saw that reach will increase even if it's share ONCE. It can give a boost of 100-200. During one of my experiments I was able to revive a dead Facebook page with a reach of about 60-70 to an average of 400-600. Quotes played a vital role on that.

Final thoughts:

Don’t go overboard. Yes while quotes should be part of your content strategy on Facebook, it shouldn't be the only strategy. You will still need to mix it up with content that promotes your brand and your expertise. If you've not tried it before, I recommend you to try it with an open mind. See if it works for your Facebook page. Don't give up after one or two tries. Test is for a period of time.

What do you think? Are you utilizing quotes in your Facebook content strategy?

Did they work for you? I would love to hear from you.

That's right Aaron. Quotes are remarkable content tools that helps to maximize engagement. I've been using them for as long as I can remember, and they've proven to be an incredible asset. However, I believe it's important to implement this strategy across channels and not just on Facebook.

Agreed!! This is an easy piece of content to add to any strategy for a personal or company brand! And yes "Don’t go overboard...it shouldn't be the only strategy. You will still need to mix it up with content that promotes your brand and your expertise."

Not sure I totally agree. Kim Garst posts very little content anymore and almost all of her posts are quotes. I unliked her Page for that reason. I think they can work when used sparingly but when anyone sees them often enough from the same place, sooner or later they're going to realize that Page is useless and only looking for engagement and has no real desire to share valuable information.

Relative quotes work very well. If you have a SaaS product and you can somehow get the quotes of influencers/thought leaders in the industry and convert them into beautiful quotes. They will become an amazing piece of content to post not only on Facebook but on other mediums as well. Nice post Aaron :)
