1) Unclear Message on Your Website

The first thing that we're gonna cover is that you have an unclear message on your website. You want to have a message that someone who has no idea what your business does to understand it in 15 seconds or less.

Is your offer clear?

Can you clearly see who you are, what you do, how you do it?

They need to know exactly what you can do to help them and how you are going to do it FAST! You need to make sure your offer is extremely clear because there are so many times that we are not saying about the how, and the why.

I see this being a huge problem more than anything else when it comes to having a website that is not converting. That's why I wanted to cover that first so you can see if your website passes our little test.

Action Step: Take a look at your website after reading this blog and see if you pass this first test.

2) Bad Design & OutDated Websites:

The number two reason why most people leave a website is because of the bad design and outdated presence of the website. If you have an older site, you might have a bunch of different problems with it like;

  • broken links
  • old photos
  • stock images
  • 404 errors
  • Not responsive to a mobile web browser

These are just a couple of things we found that makes people leave your website because it’s older or the design isn’t up to par.

How do you know if your website design or if your website is outdated?

One of the best ways to know is to check out your website on your phone; if you have trouble navigating efficiently on the site you have a design problem. Another way to see if it’s an outdated site is to see what content is on your website and if your message isn’t what your business is still offering you have a problem and need to change it.

Make sure you click on all of your links to see if they bring the customer to the right page or if the form they fill out to get in contact with you is still sent to your team and you.

Why it’s important to see the design on your phone is because over 60% of the internet is now on their cellphones when surfing the web. It's crazy how much the game has changed, even just in these last couple of years.

If you have an outdated site that's a couple of years old, they weren't optimizing for mobile back then.

Action Step: I want to recommend to go through and make sure everything is correct on your website the way it should be.

3) Visualization Cues

The next thing I’d like to cover is visualization. Our customers are visual people and seeing is believing in this age with so much information out there. I'm not just talking about pretty photos and all that stuff; the because thing currently is using icons to demonstrate a service or product.

Videos are a great way to have your customers to interact with you on another level instead of reading. Let’s face it even you reading this blog that can help grow your business by having the best website is boring.

Your video can make things exciting so if you are having trouble reading this blog make sure to watch the YouTube video instead.

You ideally want different ways that you can break up how your customer is consuming your information because certain people want to read, watch videos, and read the main bullet points. We have to provide our information in a handful of ways to tailor it to our customer's needs.

One of my favorite website design tips is using icons with big headlines and short little sub titles. This flow will give them a visual cue and then allow them to see the main point and if they are interested they can read more about it by the subheadline.

Action Step: Count how many visuals you have on your website compared to services.

4) Slow Loading Speed

The fourth thing is a slow page loading speed. THIS WILL KILL YOU FASTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE. 40% of people will leave your site in three seconds if it doesn't load.

If you are paying for anyone to visit your website with PPC or Social you need to make sure that CPC (Cost per Click) is paying off and they are seeing your website before they leave.

You're probably wondering, "Kyle, three seconds, "how can I get my website to load that fast?" There are multiple ways, so one of the first things I want you to do right after this video is going to Google Speed Insights.

https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

This will tell you everything about your website and areas where you can improve your site to get higher on search ranking and page load speed.

Don’t worry if you don’t know how to fix some of these items because it looks super technical and nerdy. That’s where we can help you and right now we are offering a FREE Consultation call to help you grow your business.

It's gonna be very beneficial after you do this because you're gonna see what your speed test is. It's gonna give you a mobile and desktop speeds so make sure you look at both. I would personally focus on mobile because 60%; the vast majority of people will view your website on mobile.

Your desktop is usually going to be a little bit better because that's, even if you have an older site, a newer site, a lot of people and web developers focus on the desktop version. So, there's a couple of other ways that if you wanna fix this, so there's a WordPress plugin. It's called Lazy Loading.

What Lazy Loading does is it doesn't load everything on the site right when someone visits the site it only loads bits and pieces of the site typically the first thing a person would see so they are given information right away helping to keep them on your website longer. This is really important because that's what they're seeing right away. Remember that three seconds, 40% of people are gonna leave! So you need to give them some type of content in order to keep them on your website.

5) Copy Is Everything (A Fancy Way To Say The Vocab You Use)

The 5th thing is talking about your copy; in other words, the vocab and text on your website explaining what you do. You need to make sure we are using basic terms that your customers or people who are shopping for your company know and are triggered to show them you can help them with their problem

There's a lot of times that we like to use jargon and terms for our industry that only we know as the owner. We wanna sound super technical, smart and all that stuff but in reality, we are CONFUSING our customer.

At the end of the day, your customers or clients, are not going to know every little thing about what we do and that’s okay so let’s give them the 30,000ft explanation instead.

One of the best examples I can think about is how your doctor talks to you. The difference between a good doctor and a bad one is really simple when you think about it. They take all of these crazy medical terms and give them to you not only in the medical terms but also explains them to you in layman terms too! This is really important because most of us forget to use both so that way we look credible and our client also knows what THE HELL we are talking about.

It's okay to use a slang term or have the best grammar because the mind works in magic and if you can see how people are communicating with each other it's more conversational-based.

If you look at the top brands; they don't use the best verbiage. They don't use all of these crazy terms. They keep it very nice and simple. Make sure that your message is very clear.

6) Option Overload

The next thing is just option overload, which is the last topic and this is actually the most important. That's why I saved it for last because everyone's trying to put up as many options as possible, but in reality, your customers are overloaded and don’t pick anything. By the way, no decision is still a decision.

There's like a scientific study where they have this huge wall of all of these grocery store items and there are hundreds of different kinds of ketchup and things like that. They had people who needed to get items from this store and found they didn’t purchase as much because they were overloaded by information, Then you go over to a model like Trader Joes, there are a very few options to pick from, so instead of there being 17 different brands of ketchup, there's only three now.

The customers found what they were looking for were happier when they left the store and purchased more items than at the other store. This proves that option overload is a real thing and we have this on our websites all the time. A great way to conduct online marketing is by having landing pages which are single page websites were you can push one item to these people so it’s a take it or leave it situation and if you target marketing plan works you will get higher conversions than if you had that same page on your website with options where they could go check out other things as well.

People are interested in everything and will wander around if you let them on your website which is a good and bad thing. If you keep it simple, and you only give them a select few amounts of options, they will get it.

You need to give them the main benefits, client testimonials, some things that they're gonna get right away, how you're gonna help them.

Simple things, guys; keep your website as simple as possible.

I hope you enjoyed those six reasons why people are leaving your website! If you need any help with your website services I would love to help you.
