And so we start this week's round-up at League One?Charlton , where former Portsmouth,?Oxford ?and Lincoln boss?Michael Appleton ?has been named successor to the recently departed Dean Holden. The Spain women’s national team?remains in the news,?with Montse Tomé named as the?world champions ’?first female head coach. Tomé is a former assistant to?Jorge Vilda , who lost his job as head coach?amid the ongoing Luis Rubiales scandal. Elsewhere in the women's game, Renée Slegers (below) has joined Women's Super League team?Arsenal ?as assistant to head coach Jonas Eidevall. Born in the Netherlands, 34-year-old Slegers succeeded?Eidevall at Rosengard in June 2021. She led the Swedish club to back-to-back league titles in 2021 and 2022.
Slegers’?compatriot, former Dutch international John Heitinga, reunites with his former boss?David Moyes ?at West Ham. Heitinga?has been confirmed as a first-team assistant with the high-flying?Hammers , having played?for Moyes at?Everton ?between 2009 and 2013. He arrives from?Ajax , where he was interim manager from January to June this year. Also heading to the Premier League from the low countries?is?Ian Burchnall , who has left Anderlecht to join Gary O’Neil as first-team coach at?Wolves . Burchnall has also coached?in Norway and?Sweden, as well as managing?Notts County ?and Forest Green Rovers. Villarreal became the first La Liga club?to part ways with a manager this season, when they dismissed?Quique Setién ?this week.?The Yellow Submarine have lost three of their first four league games, including a ding-dong 4-3 loss to?Barcelona . In Turkey,??stanbul Ba?ak?ehir’s strategic planning director Eddie Newton?has taken temporary charge of first-team affairs, after?Emre Bel?zo?lu was dismissed. A former?Chelsea ?player, Newton had three spells as a coach at Stamford Bridge, and won the 2020 Turkish Cup as boss of Trabzonspor.
