6 Questions for Better Mondays

It might be the middle of the week, but another Monday will be here before you know it.

If you're like most people, you'll be prepared to ask and answer the question, "How was your weekend?", more times than you'd like to count.

Unless you've had a particularly fantastic or terrible weekend, this question usually ends with a response of "good."

And that's that. Conversation over. No follow-up questions.

If you're looking to change up the script with your team and engage in more meaningful conversations next Monday (or any day of the week really), try one of the six questions below.

  1. What are you looking forward to this week? Allows people to share their upcoming plans or goals, creating a positive and optimistic tone for the week.
  2. Did anything exciting or interesting happen to you recently? Lets people share any events, experiences, or achievements that they found noteworthy.
  3. Is there anything specific you'd like support or assistance with this week? Shows a willingness to help and be attentive to their needs.
  4. Have you come across any interesting articles, books, or podcasts lately? Helps spark discussions and promote learning.
  5. What’s one thing you're looking to accomplish or learn this week? Gives people the opportunity to share their goals or areas of focus for the week.
  6. How are you feeling about the week ahead? Lets them express any concerns, excitement, or challenges they have, and enables you to offer support or encouragement. This questions also gives you insight into how different aspects of work make people feel.

Try one of these questions next Monday and see how they can help you foster a more positive and connected work environment.
